The 35 mm 166.067 adds a tonneau-shaped case and a distinctly later look. A millimetre or two matters less than lug mass and case shape, so choose the silhouette before comparing condition.

Movement type is the next fork. The 1960 14775 1 SC uses manual-winding Caliber 610 with 17 jewels, the 1961 2992-4 SC uses automatic Caliber 503 with 20 jewels, and the 1970 166.067 uses automatic Caliber 565. If convenience matters, take the automatic. If you enjoy a daily winding ritual, the manual watch offers a slimmer conceptual package without pretending to be the same proposition.

Buy the dial first. Clean silver sunburst surfaces, crisp printing, applied indices and a neatly framed date aperture create the strongest all-round watch. Light, even spotting can be honest and attractive. Heavy stardust patina is a deliberate aesthetic choice, not a neutral condition detail, and it should be reflected in what you are willing to pay.

Then inspect the case as a shape, not merely as steel. Beefy lugs should still look beefy, a tonneau case should retain its transitions, and edges should not dissolve into a uniformly soft outline. Honest scratches are easier to accept than aggressive polishing because wear records use while lost geometry cannot be put back.

Finally, make the parts tell one story. A reference associated here with a date display should not be assessed like a no-date watch, and caliber, jewel count, case size and period must agree with the particular execution. Serial dating is approximate by 1-3 years, so use it to expose large contradictions rather than to force an exact production date.

A visually clean movement is encouraging, but appearance alone does not establish mechanical health. On any used Omega Seamaster, budget your decision around actual running condition and the coherence of the movement with the reference. Recent servicing can be useful evidence only when the watch also performs properly.

Do not confuse attractive ageing with damage. Uniform stardust patina may be collectible when the printing, indices and overall surface remain coherent. Edge wear, uneven spotting or a suspiciously fresh dial beside heavily worn hands and case deserve more caution. Choose consistency across dial, hands, case and movement over one dazzling component.
