Dial and Hands
The well-preserved silver dial features a striking vertical brushed finish, complemented by applied faceted indices with black inserts and an applied Omega logo and Constellation star. The printed text remains crisp, while the luminous plots at the base of the indices show consistent, even aging. The baton hands, also featuring black inserts and luminous material, exhibit mild oxidation and aging, with the lume perfectly matching the dial plots to create an authentic vintage aesthetic.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel C-shape case displays brushed upper surfaces that transition neatly to polished flanks, with the edges remaining reasonably defined. The case exhibits honest wear, showing moderate surface scratches and minor dings on the polished sides consistent with age and use. A polished steel bezel ring holding the domed acrylic crystal shows light surface scratches matching the case. The watch retains its knurled steel crown, clearly signed with the Omega logo. The caseback proudly features the crisp observatory medallion. The domed acrylic crystal is generally clear, displaying only minor surface wear and light micro-scratches.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the Omega caliber 751, a chronometer-grade automatic movement featuring 24 jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. The movement displays Omega's signature copper-toned finish and is visually clean, with the rotor and bridges remaining well preserved. Minor signs of handling are visible on the screw heads. The caliber bears crisp engravings including the serial number and adjustment details. Recording -2-3s /day on the timegrapher, the movement is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel brick-link bracelet, a highly desirable configuration for this model. The bracelet features endlinks stamped '518' and secures via a signed Omega folding clasp. It displays period-correct wear with moderate surface scratches and normal signs of use, accommodating a maximum wrist size of 19.5cm.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The watch is well preserved overall, displaying honest wear to the stainless steel C-shape case with moderate surface scratches and minor dings on the polished flanks. The vertically brushed silver dial remains in excellent shape with crisp printing and evenly aged luminous plots. The hands show mild oxidation matching the dial's patina. The original brick-link bracelet exhibits normal period-correct wear. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 34 mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This sought-after Constellation delivers celebrated case geometry alongside a highly capable chronometer-certified movement. Retaining its original signed brick-link bracelet and a beautifully preserved brushed dial, it represents an outstanding addition for any dedicated collector.
History
The Omega Constellation reference 168.019 is celebrated for its distinctive C-shape case, famously designed by Gérald Genta. Introduced during a significant era of Omega's chronometer production, the model is powered by the robust Caliber 751, an automatic movement adjusted to five positions and temperature to meet stringent testing standards. The caseback bears the signature Constellation observatory medallion with its eight stars, symbolizing Omega's numerous precision records. Today, these C-shape Constellations remain a collector favourite, appreciated for their architectural lines and lasting presence in horological history.
