It is appointed with applied faceted square indices, a day window positioned at 9 o'clock displaying English text, and a date window at 3 o'clock. The dial surface appears very clean, exhibiting minimal signs of aging or spotting. The dauphine-style hour and minute hands feature a silver-tone finish that remains clean and free of significant oxidation or corrosion, matching the dial's excellent condition. Case and Crystal The 36 mm stainless steel case features classic 1960s Seikomatic geometry, complete with a functional, recessed crown positioned at 4 o'clock. The case shows honest wear consistent with age and regular use, displaying visible surface scratches and scuffs throughout. The lugs show signs of wear but retain their general shape. A smooth, integrated style bezel surrounds the dial, showing surface scratches consistent with the rest of the case. The caseback exterior shows wear, with the central emblem heavily faded. The domed acrylic crystal exhibits visible scratches and scuffs on the surface, particularly noticeable near the 11 o'clock position. Movement Inside beats the Seiko caliber 6206A, a 26-jewel automatic movement. The movement features a handsome gold-tone finish on the rotor and bridges, appearing very clean with no obvious signs of corrosion, oxidation, or damage. The screw heads and engravings, including "SEIKO," "26 JEWELS," and "6206A," remain crisp. Recording -60-62s/day on the timegrapher. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch. Strap The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring contrasting white stitching. The strap is in serviceable condition, showing light wear and creasing. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial and hands are exceptionally well-preserved, standing out as the visual highlight of the timepiece. The stainless steel case and smooth bezel present honest wear, with visible scratches, scuffs, and a heavily faded caseback emblem. The domed acrylic crystal displays noticeable surface scratches. The movement is visually very clean and is running in operational condition. Dimensions The case size is 36 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Seikomatic stands out due to its distinctive grid-pattern dial and the unusual placement of the day and date windows. Combined with the visually clean, gold-tone caliber 6206A automatic movement and classic 1960s case design, it is a highly compelling watch for enthusiasts of mid-century Japanese watchmaking. History The Seikomatic line was a central pillar of Seiko's automatic offerings during the 1960s, designed to provide reliable, high-quality self-winding movements for everyday wear. The caliber 6206 is particularly noted by collectors for its "Weekdater" layout, which separates the day and date displays across the dial for enhanced legibility and visual balance. Examples featuring the crosshair or grid dial are especially appreciated for their distinct aesthetic, representing an era of confident, innovative design from the Japanese manufacturer.
