    About This Watch

Presented for auction by Second Vintage This sought-after vintage King Seiko from 1972 highlights the refined design language and mechanical ambition of the 56KS series. Featuring a clean silver sunburst dial with sharp applied logos and a high-frequency 5625B automatic movement, this piece offers collectors a highly capable and visually striking example of Seiko manufacturing from a celebrated era. Brand: Seiko Model: King Seiko Reference Number: 5625-7121 Serial Number: 2D6356 Movement: Automatic, caliber 5625B, 25 jewels Dial: Silver sunburst with applied indices Case Size: 37mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1972 Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: -10-12s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The sharp and minimalist dial features a silver sunburst finish in clean overall condition with crisp printing. Applied Seiko and KS logos sit prominently on the dial, complemented by applied black-accented indices. The baton style hands provide contrasting black accents with central stripes. Visible oxidation and wear are present on the black finish of the hands, particularly near the center post. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case retains its classic King Seiko geometry, framed by a smooth integrated bezel. The surfaces show light scratches and signs of wear consistent with age, and the edges appear slightly softened from previous polishing. An unsigned crown with a knurled edge completes the case profile. The flat crystal offers clear visibility of the dial beneath, showing only minor surface wear. Movement Powering this timepiece is the Seiko caliber 5625B, a 25-jewel automatic movement. The visible components maintain a clean overall appearance with the rotor present and no obvious signs of corrosion or damage. The movement is engraved with Seiko, 25 Jewels, and Japan 5625B. Recording -10-12s/day on the timegrapher, the watch is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The strap shows light wear and secures with a clasp. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial remains in excellent, clean shape, while the hands show visible oxidation and wear on their black center stripes. The stainless steel case and smooth bezel exhibit light surface scratches, with the case edges appearing slightly softened from previous polishing. The flat crystal has minor surface wear. Supported by the timegrapher data, the movement is running very well. Dimensions The case measures 37mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This 1972 King Seiko provides an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-preserved silver sunburst dial paired with a highly regarded hi-beat movement. The combination of classic case geometry and strong mechanical performance makes it a compelling addition to any vintage watch collection. History The King Seiko 56KS series was produced by Suwa Seikosha from 1968 to 1975. Notably, it stands as the only King Seiko line not manufactured by Daini Seikosha, representing a unique chapter in the internal rivalry that drove Seiko development during the era. The caliber 5625 is a 25-jewel automatic movement operating at a hi-beat frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Designed with both automatic winding and manual winding capability, the movement also features a stop-seconds hacking function and a quick-setting date, reflecting the high technical standards of the King Seiko family.
