    About This Watch

Now available at auction from Second Vintage This classic 1969 Seikomatic-P configuration presents an exceptionally clean silver sunburst dial accented by a distinctive hexagonal crown. Powered by the high-jewel-count automatic caliber 5106A, this timepiece offers a compelling blend of refined aesthetics and robust mechanical design, highlighted by its sharply preserved applied indices and practical day-date complication. Brand: Seiko Model: Seikomatic-P Reference Number: 5106-8020 Serial Number: 964810 Movement: Automatic caliber 5106A Dial: Silver sunburst with applied indices Case Size: 38 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: 1969 Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: -43-48s/day, running in operational condition. Dial and Hands The exceptionally clean and attractive silver sunburst dial is very well preserved, offering a bright and crisp visual presence. The applied indices and Seiko logo stand out beautifully against the brushed surface, while the printed text and Daini Seikosha logo remain fully intact. Under macro magnification, only minor dust or microscopic spotting can be observed. The original dauphine hands feature black central stripes and show noticeable age-related oxidation and spotting on their silver-tone surfaces, providing an honest record of the watch's age. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case remains in honest vintage condition with typical wear for its age. The case geometry is generally defined, though the edges show signs of use, accompanied by scattered scratches and minor dings on the flanks and lugs. The smooth integrated bezel displays scattered scratches consistent with the rest of the case. A distinctive hexagonal crown, which is unsigned, shows minor wear but adds a striking architectural element to the profile. The domed acrylic crystal exhibits some light surface scratches and scuffs, most notably near the two o'clock position. On the reverse, the caseback retains clear and fully legible factory engravings. Movement Inside the watch is the high-jewel-count automatic caliber 5106A, featuring 33 jewels and a practical day-date complication. The movement appears visually clean with a bright finish across the rotor and bridges, showing no obvious signs of heavy corrosion or damage. Clear engravings for Seiko, 33 Jewels, 5106A, and Japan are present on the movement components. The timegrapher result is -43-48s/day. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch. Strap The watch is fitted with a fresh black leather strap featuring a faux alligator pattern and white contrast stitching. The strap appears unworn or very lightly used and secures comfortably to the wrist. Condition Good vintage condition. This Seikomatic-P presents an exceptionally attractive dial with crisp applied elements, contrasted by noticeable oxidation on the original dauphine hands. The stainless steel case displays normal honest wear, including scattered scratches and minor dings on the flanks and lugs, while maintaining a generally defined geometry. The domed acrylic crystal shows some light scuffs, and the unsigned hexagonal crown exhibits minor wear. The clean movement is running in operational condition. Dimensions The case measures 38 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Seikomatic-P offers a highly attractive silver sunburst dial paired with the distinctive visual appeal of a hexagonal crown. Powered by a clean 33-jewel automatic movement, it represents a well-preserved and highly wearable example of 1969 Japanese watchmaking. History Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seikomatic-P line represents a notable era of Seiko's production, characterized by sophisticated automatic movements and practical day-date features. Produced by Daini Seikosha, these models often incorporated high jewel counts, such as the 33-jewel caliber 5106, to ensure smooth and reliable operation. The distinctive case designs and crisp dial layouts of this period reflect Seiko's commitment to creating robust, elegant timepieces for everyday wear, cementing their enduring appeal among vintage watch enthusiasts.
