Dial and Hands
The attractive silver sunburst dial features applied gold-tone indices and logos, offering a classic vintage layout. Its defining characteristic is the prominent day window positioned at six o'clock, complemented by the date aperture at three o'clock. Age-related spotting and staining are visible, particularly near the twelve o'clock index. The original gold-tone dauphine hands display light surface oxidation and minor spotting under magnification, showing light, even aging consistent with the character of the dial.
Case and Crystal
The 37 mm gold-plated case presents honest wear consistent with age. The lugs retain a generally good shape with some softening, and the smooth gold-tone bezel displays light scratches and minor wear. Moderate surface scratches are present across the case, with expected plating degradation and wear visible on the rear edges near the caseback, reflecting natural friction points. The recessed, unsigned crown is correctly positioned at four o'clock, with its plating appearing intact. The domed acrylic crystal shows light surface scratches and scuffs when viewed at oblique angles.
Movement
Inside is the 33-jewel Seikosha caliber 400. The clean gold-colored plates and bridges display no obvious signs of corrosion or damage, and the signed rotor appears in excellent condition. Engravings for Seikomatic, 33 Jewels, Seikosha, and 400 are clearly present. Measuring +20+22s/day. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The movement was serviced on 21 July 2026.

The dial retains its charming vintage layout alongside noticeable spotting near twelve o'clock. The hands show even, light oxidation, and the domed crystal has minor surface scuffs.

History
The Seikomatic line was instrumental in establishing Seiko's reputation for high-quality automatic watches during the 1960s. The Weekdater models, particularly those featuring the day display at six o'clock, are collector favourites due to their unique dial geometry and historical significance. These early iterations paved the way for Seiko's later dominance in day-date complications, combining elegant design with robust mechanical performance.
