Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case displays sharp and angular 1970s geometry, highlighted by a distinctive faceted lug design with brushed top surfaces and polished flanks. The case remains in good condition, showing light scratches and minor edge wear consistent with normal use, with no major dents or deep gouges visible. A thin polished bezel ring frames the dial, displaying minor hairline scratches. The small, unsigned crown is in good condition with defined knurling. The flat crystal is clear with no significant scratches, chips, or crazing visible.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the automatic caliber 5206A, a 25-jewel movement developed by Daini Seikosha. The movement presents a clean overall appearance with bright plates and bridges, while the intact rotor is clearly engraved with "JAPAN", "SEIKO", "25 JEWELS", and "5206A". Minor wear or dirt is visible around the caseback sealing edge. The timegrapher records a rate of +10+15s/day. Remarks
This Lord Matic Special combines a beautifully preserved brown gradient dial with sharp, faceted case lines. Supported by strong timegrapher performance and the highly regarded 5206A caliber, it is an excellent opportunity to acquire a distinctive 1970s Seiko with a desirable Kanji day wheel.
History
The Lord Matic (LM) line was introduced in 1968, positioned just below the prestigious King Seiko and Grand Seiko collections. The Lord Matic Special models and their 52xx series movements were developed by Seiko's Daini Seikosha factory to offer premium mechanical performance. The 5206A caliber architecture was highly regarded for its sophisticated design, so much so that it was later resurrected by Seiko in the 1990s as the foundation for the premium 4S movement family.
