Applied gold-tone indices remain clean and bright, catching the light beautifully at every angle. The original gold-tone dauphine hands complement the indices and exhibit a light patina, with minor oxidation and spotting visible under closer inspection.
Case and Crystal
The gold-plated case presents honest vintage wear while maintaining its classic dress watch geometry. It shows moderate wear with scratches consistent with age and use, alongside visible plating loss on the lug edges and case flanks. The watch retains its original crown, proudly signed with the Seiko 'S', which also shows wear and some plating loss along the knurling. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial and remains clear, with no major scratches, cracks, or crazing visible.

History
Introduced in the late 1950s and produced through the 1960s, the Seiko Crown represents a pivotal era in Japanese watchmaking. Designed as an elegant dress watch, the Crown established the mechanical and aesthetic foundation for Seiko's premium offerings, directly influencing the creation of the first Grand Seiko. The manual wind Seikosha calibers powering these watches are highly regarded for their straightforward, robust architecture and reliable daily performance. The Crown was a widely produced model during its time, though surviving examples with pristine dials are increasingly appreciated by collectors today.
