Movement: Automatic caliber 5606A, 25 jewels
Dial: Vibrant blue gradient with applied faceted indices

Dial and Hands
The striking dial features a vibrant blue gradient, often referred to as a vignette finish, which remains exceptionally well-preserved. The applied faceted indices reflect light beautifully and remain in great condition, complemented by crisp printed text and applied logos. There is no significant moisture damage or staining visible on the dial surface. The hands are a classic baton style with white inserts. Under macro observation, minor oxidation and aging are visible on the metal surfaces of the hands, presenting character consistent with the age of the timepiece.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case displays an honest character with surface wear typical for its age. The polished and brushed surfaces, including the integrated polished bezel area, show scratches and minor dings. The case edges exhibit slight softening from regular wear over the decades. A partially recessed, unsigned crown is correctly positioned at 3 o'clock. The flat crystal protects the dial and shows minor surface scratches, which are particularly noticeable near the edges.
Movement
Inside the case beats the Seiko automatic caliber 5606A. The movement presents a clean overall appearance, with engravings reading SEIKO, 25 JEWELS, and JAPAN 5606A. The rotor displays minor marks and light wear. The timegrapher recorded a rate of -15-17s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced on 13 August 2026.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel link bracelet. The clasp is signed SEIKO LM, and the endlinks are correctly marked XAB 381. The bracelet shows surface scratches and typical wear consistent with the rest of the watch. It accommodates a maximum wrist fit of 17,5 cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 13 August 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The stainless steel case and original bracelet display honest surface scratches, minor dings, and typical wear consistent with a frequently enjoyed watch. The flat crystal has minor edge scratches. The vibrant blue dial remains in excellent, well-preserved condition, while the hands show minor, age-appropriate oxidation visible under close inspection.
Dimensions
The case measures 27 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This 1972 Lord Matic stands out through its highly attractive blue gradient dial and sharp applied indices. Complete with its original signed bracelet and running with impressive mechanical strength, it is a charming and distinctive automatic Seiko ready for its next owner.
History
The Seiko Lord Matic line, introduced in the late 1960s, was an essential pillar of Seiko's catalog, positioned just below the King Seiko and Grand Seiko ranges. Powered by the sophisticated 5600 series movements, the Lord Matic offered advanced automatic winding and a slim profile that allowed for highly refined case designs. The caliber 5606 is recognized for its robust architecture and smooth operation, reflecting Seiko's commitment to precision manufacturing during a highly competitive era of mechanical watchmaking.
