Dial and Hands
The dial is exceptionally well preserved, featuring a bright silver sunburst finish that remains very clean with no significant flaws. It is accented by an applied Omega logo and applied baton indices with black inserts, adding sharp contrast and legibility. A framed date window sits neatly at the 3 o'clock position. The matching stick hands feature black inserts that perfectly complement the indices, accompanied by a sweeping seconds hand. The hands display a clean finish with no visible oxidation, completing the cohesive dial furniture.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel tonneau-style case displays honest wear while retaining its classic late-sixties geometry. The upper surfaces feature a brushed finish that transitions to polished flanks, with edges that remain reasonably defined. Light surface scratches and minor handling marks are visible across the case and the polished integrated bezel ring. The knurled crown is signed with the Omega logo and shows light wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, showing only minor surface scratches visible under direct light.
Movement
Inside the case beats the Omega automatic caliber 565, a 24-jewel movement equipped with a swan-neck regulator. The movement presents beautifully with Omega's signature copper-toned finish. The plates and bridges appear clean and well-preserved, and the rotor is present and intact. Factory engravings are clearly visible, reading OMEGA WATCH Co SWISS, TWENTY-FOUR 24 JEWELS, 565, alongside the serial number 28734846. Recording -9-11s/day on the timegrapher, the caliber is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced on 23 September 2026.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring a crocodile pattern. Serving as a classic pairing for the steel case and silver dial, the strap shows light creasing from use and remains in good condition.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 23 September 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The dial and hands are remarkably clean and well preserved. The case and bezel show honest, age-appropriate wear, including light surface scratches and minor handling marks, while the acrylic crystal displays minor surface scratches under direct lighting. The leather strap presents light creasing consistent with gentle use.
Dimensions
The case size is 35 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Omega Genève offers a pristine dial configuration housed in a classic tonneau case. Driven by the highly regarded Caliber 565 and backed by recent movement servicing and strong timegrapher results, it is a highly wearable and attractive vintage timepiece.
History
Omega introduced the Genève line in the 1950s, naming it in honor of the high standards and precise regulations of their Geneva workshops. By the late 1960s, the collection had evolved to include contemporary case shapes and robust automatic calibers. The reference 166.041, produced between 1968 and 1970, perfectly illustrates this era with its distinctive tonneau-shaped case and the reliable 24-jewel automatic caliber 565, making it a classic example of vintage Omega.
