Dial and Hands
The dial is well preserved and attractive, featuring a striking vertical linen texture that provides excellent depth. Applied gold-tone indices with contrasting black inserts complement the crisp applied Seiko and LM logos. The surface remains remarkably clean with no visible staining or damage. The day-date aperture displays an English and Kanji day wheel, a notable detail of Japanese domestic market references. The crisp gold-tone dauphine hands feature matching black center stripes and maintain a clean finish with minimal signs of oxidation.
Case and Crystal
The gold-plated case features a stainless steel caseback and retains its classic Lord Matic geometry. It displays honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches and handling marks present throughout. There is some minor plating wear visible on the sharp edges and lug tips. An integrated smooth bezel frames the dial, showing light surface scratches consistent with the overall case wear. The partially recessed crown is unsigned and shows some plating wear. A flat acrylic crystal protects the dial and remains clear, with no major scratches, chips, or cracks visible.

Powering the watch is the automatic Seiko caliber 5606, a reliable movement known for its refined architecture. The timegrapher records a rate of -18-25s/day. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period correct gold-tone flat link bracelet that matches the style of the case beautifully. The bracelet displays moderate wear and surface scratches consistent with the age of the timepiece. It accommodates a maximum wrist fit of 17.5cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial and hands are exceptionally well preserved, maintaining a sharp and clean aesthetic. The gold-plated case exhibits honest wear, including moderate surface scratches and minor plating loss on the sharp edges, lug tips, and crown. The period correct bracelet shows matching moderate wear. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is running strong and steady.
Dimensions
The case measures 37mm across, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Seiko Lord Matic offers a compelling combination of a beautiful vertical linen dial and the practical English and Kanji day wheel. The contrasting black inserts on the indices and hands provide excellent legibility, making this a highly attractive and wearable 1970s timepiece.
History
Introduced in 1968, the Seiko Lord Matic line was positioned to offer high-quality mechanical movements and sophisticated styling, sitting just below the prestigious King Seiko and Grand Seiko collections. Powered primarily by the 56xx series calibers, the Lord Matic range became a staple of Seiko domestic catalogs throughout the 1970s. These watches are celebrated for their sharp case designs, varied and creative dial textures, and reliable automatic movements, representing an important era of Japanese watchmaking.
