This Seiko Champion from the 1960s offers classic mid-century proportions with a remarkably preserved silver sunburst dial, presenting a beautiful and honest example of early Japanese watchmaking. Brand: Seiko Model: Seiko Champion Reference Number: J15004E Movement: Manual wind, 19 jewels Dial: Silver/champagne sunburst with applied gold-tone indices Case Size: 36mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold Plated (20 Microns) Production Year: 1960s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: -3-6s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The silver and champagne sunburst dial is in highly preserved condition, remaining exceptionally clean with minimal to no visible spotting or staining. The applied gold-tone indices are clean and reflective, complementing the crisp printed text. Time is indicated by original gold-tone dauphine hands, which display expected age-related oxidation and minor spotting visible under macro inspection. Case and Crystal The 36mm gold-plated case features an integrated bezel and a slim profile that rests elegantly on the wrist. It displays honest vintage wear consistent with age, including moderate surface scratches and handling marks, alongside some wear and softening visible on the lug edges and case flanks. The unsigned ribbed crown is in good condition with defined knurling. On the reverse, the caseback engravings remain clear and legible. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with no major scratches, cracks, or crazing. Movement Powering the watch is a manual wind Seikosha movement, engraved with 19 jewels. The caliber appears generally clean, showing some minor surface marks and light oxidation on the plates and bridges. Recording -3-6s/day on the timegrapher. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap featuring contrast stitching. The strap appears unworn or very lightly used. Condition Good vintage condition. The gold-plated case shows honest wear, surface scratches, and softening along the lugs and flanks. The dial is exceptionally preserved, while the hands show natural oxidation. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the manual wind movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions 36mm (excluding the crown) Remarks This Seiko Champion is notable for its highly preserved sunburst dial, classic 1960s proportions, and strong mechanical performance. It is a highly attractive dress watch with undeniable mid-century character. History The Seiko Champion line emerged in the early 1960s as a sophisticated yet accessible dress watch offering from the Japanese manufacturer. Characterized by clean, time-only displays and robust Seikosha manual wind movements, the Champion series provided elegant styling and dependable mechanics. These models represent a significant era of Seiko's production, bridging the gap between everyday reliability and refined mid-century design. / Second Vintage SKU: SEI-SCJ-0002
