Dial and Hands
The exceptionally clean and vibrant silver sunburst dial is highly reflective, featuring crisp, fully legible printed text and an intact date window frame. The applied gold-tone indices and Seiko logo remain firmly intact and bright. Very minor, isolated spotting is visible on the dial surface only under high magnification. The dauphine gold-tone hands show expected age-related oxidation and minor spotting on their flat surfaces, while the sweep second hand remains clean.
Case and Crystal
The 37mm gold-plated case presents honest vintage wear with well-preserved plating. The gold-tone finish exhibits light surface scratches consistent with age, while the edges remain relatively well-defined and free of major dents or deep gouges. A thin, integrated gold-tone bezel shows light hairline scratches matching the case. A recessed crown is positioned cleanly at 4 o'clock. The smooth caseback displays clear serial number and reference engravings, with an interior ASGP marking indicating the gold plating. The domed acrylic crystal is clear, providing a distortion-free view of the dial without any major scratches, cracks, or crazing.
Movement
The watch is powered by the automatic 30-jewel Seikosha caliber 840. The movement appears very clean, showing no visible corrosion or heavy staining, and the screws and plates display a good finish. The rotor is present and correctly signed. Engravings for Seikomatic, 30 Jewels, Seikosha, and 840 are clearly legible. Timegrapher: -30s-33s/day. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a new black leather strap featuring contrasting white stitching, which appears unworn or very lightly used. It is secured by an unsigned gold-tone buckle. The strap accommodates a maximum wrist size of up to 18cm.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The watch presents beautifully, highlighted by its vibrant sunburst dial and a well-preserved case showing honest wear and intact plating. The hands display natural age-related oxidation, and the dial shows only isolated, microscopic spotting. The movement is clean and, supported by the timegrapher results, is running strong and steady.

Remarks
This 1964 Seikomatic Slimdate offers a beautifully preserved silver sunburst dial and classic 1960s dress watch proportions. Powered by the 30-jewel Seikosha 840 automatic movement and featuring clear caseback engravings, it is a highly attractive and well-documented example of mid-century Japanese watchmaking.
History
The Seikomatic line served as Seiko's flagship automatic range in the 1960s. The Slimdate variant was engineered to provide a high-precision automatic movement without a bulky case profile. Powered by the 30-jewel Caliber 840, a movement that was later re-designated by Seiko as the 8305, this model highlights Seiko's technical advancement during the era. The case features a recessed crown located at the 4 o'clock position, a deliberate design choice intended to emphasize that the watch is self-winding and does not require daily manual winding.
