    About This Watch

Presented for auction by Second Vintage A classic example of Rado's 1970s design language, this tonneau-cased Voyager features a distinctive vertical brushed silver dial with a prominent 6 o'clock day-date display. Powered by a signed 25-jewel automatic movement, this timepiece pairs its preserved case geometry with honest, heavy dial patination for a distinct vintage aesthetic. Brand: Rado Model: Voyager Reference Number: 11814/1 Movement: Automatic, caliber 2798, 25 jewels Dial: Silver with vertical brushed finish, applied indices, day-date at 6 o'clock, heavy spotting and patina Case Size: 36mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1970s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +4+9s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The silver dial features a distinct vertical brushed finish, complemented by applied blocky indices and the signature Rado anchor logo. Positioned at 6 o'clock, the English day-date window provides a balanced, symmetrical layout. The surface is heavily patinated, displaying prominent spotting across the entire dial that gives the watch a highly distinct, aged character. The luminous baton hands feature black central stripes and remain intact, showing visible oxidation and aging on their metal surfaces. Case and Crystal The 36mm stainless steel case features a cushion or tonneau shape characteristic of the era, maintaining its preserved geometry and robust profile. The upper surfaces display their original brushing pattern, contrasting nicely with the smooth polished flanks and the integrated polished bezel. The case exhibits moderate scratches and minor dings consistent with age and regular use. The knurled crown is signed with the Rado anchor logo and shows normal wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with some light surface scratches visible under certain lighting angles. Movement Inside beats the automatic caliber 2798, clearly stamped near the balance. The movement features a signed rotor noting 25 jewels and appears generally clean, showing minor signs of age. The timegrapher reads +4+9s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with a period correct stainless steel H-link style bracelet. Structurally sound but well-worn, the bracelet shows moderate scratches and wear consistent with the condition of the case. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist size of up to 19cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The stainless steel tonneau case presents honest vintage wear, displaying moderate scratches and minor dings while retaining its original brushed upper surfaces and polished flanks. The heavily patinated silver dial exhibits prominent spotting across its entire surface, and the hands show visible oxidation. The domed acrylic crystal and period correct bracelet carry light to moderate scratches consistent with age. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions Case Size: 36mm (excluding the crown) Remarks This Rado Voyager offers a distinct aesthetic defined by its heavily patinated dial and classic 1970s cushion case. The combination of the 6 o'clock day-date layout, the original signed crown, and the strong mechanical performance makes this a compelling vintage timepiece for daily wear. History The Rado Voyager is a well-known and accessible vintage model line that clearly reflects the brand's mid-century design language. Produced during the 1970s, this era of Rado is defined by sturdy stainless steel cases, often utilizing tonneau or cushion shapes, paired with reliable Swiss automatic calibers. The Voyager remains a recognized example of the period's styling, offering robust mechanical timekeeping and distinctive aesthetic features like the applied anchor logo. While many variations of the Voyager exist, examples featuring the symmetrical 6 o'clock day-date layout offer a particularly balanced interpretation of the classic design.
