    About This Watch

Now available at auction from Second Vintage A quintessential vintage Omega Seamaster. This handsome circa 1960 timepiece is defined by its exceptionally clean and well-preserved silver dial, complete with crisp applied indices and the brand's signature logo. Housed within a classic stainless steel case featuring the signature hippocampus caseback medallion, it is driven by the highly reliable manual-winding Omega Caliber 285. Brand: Omega Model: Seamaster Reference Number: 14390-6SC Serial Number: 17718169 Movement: Manual-winding Omega Caliber 285, 17 jewels Dial: Light silver and cream with applied indices Case Size: 35 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: Circa 1960 Condition: Good vintage condition. Movement serviced on 26 October 2026. Timegrapher: -15-17s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The light silver and cream dial is in very well-preserved condition, presenting an exceptionally clean character with minimal to no visible spotting or staining. The applied indices and Omega logo remain clean, while all printed text is crisp and intact. Sweeping above are the original Dauphine style hands, which display age-appropriate visible oxidation and minor spotting, particularly concentrated on the minute hand. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case displays honest vintage wear, presenting moderate surface scratches consistent with its age. The lugs retain decent shape but show signs of previous polishing. Its smooth steel bezel is integrated seamlessly with the case and shows light surface scratches matching the overall wear. On the reverse, the screw-in caseback features the classic hippocampus logo, which is visible but shows some wear from decades of use. The knurled crown is signed with the Omega logo, showing light wear while remaining clearly defined. The domed acrylic crystal is clear, with no significant scratches, cracks, or crazing visible. Movement This Seamaster is powered by the manual-winding Omega Caliber 285. The copper-colored movement presents a very clean appearance with no obvious signs of corrosion or damage, while the screw heads and plates look well-preserved. Factory engravings including OMEGA SWISS, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, 285, and the serial number 17718169 are clearly visible. Recording -15-17s/day on the timegrapher, it is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced on 26 October 2026. Strap The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. It appears to be in good, lightly used condition. Condition Good vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 26 October 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The dial is exceptionally well-preserved and clean, though the hands show visible oxidation and spotting. The case and integrated bezel exhibit moderate scratches and signs of previous polishing, while the caseback medallion displays expected wear. The crystal remains clear, and the signed crown is well-defined. Dimensions The case measures 35 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This reference 14390 is an attractive example of Omega's mid-century design language. The remarkably clean dial and the strong-performing Caliber 285 make it an appealing piece for any enthusiast of classic Swiss watchmaking. History Introduced to the international collection in 1959, the Seamaster reference 14390 represents a refined era of Omega's post-war production. Powered by the robust manual-winding Caliber 285, these watches were built to offer durability and precision in an elegant profile. The inclusion of the screw-in caseback and the signature hippocampus medallion cemented the Seamaster's reputation as a reliable and handsome companion. Today, well-preserved examples of the 14390 remain appreciated by enthusiasts of mid-century horology. Payment and Shipping Payment must be completed within 1–3 days after purchase.
