Dial and Hands
The wonderfully preserved dial is the focal point of this watch, featuring a striking textured honeycomb or waffle pattern. It is exceptionally clean, displaying minimal signs of aging or spotting. Applied gold-tone indices and the raised Omega logo catch the light beautifully against the intricate background, alongside crisp "OMEGA" and "SWISS MADE" text. The dauphine style hands exhibit visible oxidation and surface spotting, providing an honest, aged character that contrasts appealingly with the immaculate dial.
Case and Crystal
The gold-plated case presents with honest wear, retaining a charming vintage profile. The integrated smooth bezel and case body show surface scratches consistent with age, alongside tarnish and minor plating loss visible along the lug edges. The watch retains its Omega signed crown, finished in a gold tone that exhibits light wear. Above the dial, the domed acrylic crystal is clear, showing only minor superficial scratches with no visible cracks or chips.
Movement
Inside is the manual-winding Caliber 244, an elegant and reliable movement from Omega's mid-century production. The caliber features clean plates and bridges showing only minor superficial scratches, with no visible corrosion or heavy staining. It is correctly engraved with "OMEGA WATCH Co SWISS" and "SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS", alongside the matching serial number and "OXG" import code. Recording +12+16s/day on the timegrapher, it is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap that complements its vintage style. It is secured by a gold-plated, Omega signed buckle, which displays age-appropriate tarnish and plating wear.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The textured honeycomb dial remains in excellent, well-preserved shape, contrasting with the visible oxidation on the dauphine hands. The gold-plated case displays honest age-related wear, including surface scratches and minor plating loss on the lug edges. The domed acrylic crystal is clear and structurally sound. The manual-winding movement is clean and, supported by the timegrapher results, is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 19 mm in diameter (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This 1957 Omega Geneve offers a superb combination of mid-century elegance and tactile design. The beautifully preserved honeycomb dial provides immense visual interest, while the presence of the signed crown and signed buckle completes the package for the discerning collector.
History
During the 1950s, Omega dedicated significant resources to creating refined, highly capable mechanical timepieces for women.
