Reference Number: 551.038
Movement: Automatic, Omega Caliber 661, 24 jewels
Dial: Silver sunburst with applied baton indices and black hands
Case Size: 18mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Stainless steel
Production Year: 1960s
Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: -50-52s/day, running in operational condition.
Dial and Hands
The dial features an attractive silver sunburst finish paired with applied baton indices. Black baton hands remain in well-preserved, clean condition with no significant oxidation. The dial shows honest aging, with some spotting and dirt accumulation visible near the outer edges, particularly around the 7 to 8 o'clock positions, maintaining a charming vintage character with minor edge wear.
Case and Crystal
The petite stainless steel case is defined by its distinctive faceted acrylic crystal, which mounts directly to the case without a traditional bezel. The crystal design reflects light beautifully, though it exhibits minor surface scratches under direct light. The case displays honest vintage wear, with light surface scratches consistent with age and dirt accumulation visible around the caseback seating area. The watch is fitted with a signed Omega crown featuring a knurled texture and light wear.
Movement
Inside is the Omega Caliber 661, a compact automatic movement featuring 24 jewels and adjusted to two positions. The copper-colored movement is engraved with OMEGA WATCH Co SWISS. The rotor shows some surface scratches, and dirt is visible on the case perimeter where the caseback seals. The timegrapher records a rate of -50-52s/day. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch.
Strap
The watch is paired with a period correct stainless steel mesh bracelet that suits the watch style well. It secures via a sliding clasp mechanism, which bears no visible Omega signature. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist size of 16 cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch exhibits honest wear consistent with its 1960s production, including light surface scratches on the stainless steel case and faceted crystal. The dial remains attractive but shows spotting and dirt accumulation along the outer edges, while the caseback seating area also displays visible dirt.
Dimensions
The case size is 18mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This De Ville stands out through its gemstone-like faceted crystal and petite dimensions. The combination of its elegant silver sunburst dial and the mechanical capability of the caliber 661 makes it a delightful and wearable vintage timepiece.
History
The De Ville line began in the 1960s as a sophisticated branch of the Seamaster collection before evolving into an independent family focused entirely on urban elegance and refined design. This model is powered by the Omega Caliber 661, a specially designed compact automatic movement created to bring reliable mechanical performance to ladies' watches.
