Dial and Hands
The dial presents a vertically brushed silver-tone finish that has developed noticeable spotting and freckling patina distributed evenly across the surface. This aging grants the watch a highly distinct character. It features applied indices and an applied Omega logo, with crisp text reading OMEGA, AUTOMATIC, DE VILLE, and SWISS MADE. The stick hands are fitted with black central inserts. Visible oxidation, spotting, and minor debris are present on the hand surfaces, aging consistently with the dial.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case utilizes a front-loading monocoque design, creating a seamless and sturdy profile. The case is in honest vintage condition, displaying light surface scratches and scuffs consistent with normal wear. A thin, integrated smooth bezel frames the dial, showing light scratches consistent with the rest of the case. The reverse side features the Omega De Ville logo and the TOOL 107 engraving. The crown is signed with the Omega logo and its knurling shows moderate wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, bearing light surface scratches visible under certain lighting angles.
Movement
Powering the watch is an automatic Omega caliber housed securely within the front-loading case. +17+20s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period correct stainless steel brick-link style bracelet. This provides an appropriate style complementing the case beautifully. The bracelet shows normal wear and light scratches, accommodating a maximum wrist fit of 17.5cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial shows noticeable spotting and freckling, while the hands exhibit oxidation and minor debris. The stainless steel case, integrated bezel, and period correct bracelet display light scratches and scuffs typical of normal use. The signed crown shows moderate wear to its knurling, and the domed acrylic crystal has light surface scratches. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the automatic movement is performing brilliantly.
Dimensions
The case measures 36mm in diameter (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This De Ville offers a compelling combination of robust monocoque case engineering and a dial full of aged character. The strong mechanical performance makes it a highly capable and stylish choice for regular wear.
History
Introduced as a standalone collection in the late 1960s after originating within the Seamaster line, the Omega De Ville was designed to offer refined and elegant aesthetics. During the 1970s, Omega frequently utilized front-loading monocoque cases, often designated by the Tool 107 engraving, to create a sleek profile and enhance structural integrity by eliminating the traditional removable caseback. This era of De Ville production represents a highly successful period for Omega, combining refined styling with dependable automatic calibers.
