Dial and Hands
The pristine silver sunburst dial is a visual highlight, catching the light beautifully and showing no visible spotting, staining, or damage. It features applied baton indices with distinct black inserts that provide excellent legibility and contrast against the bright silver finish. An applied Omega logo sits proudly below twelve o'clock, while a framed date window is positioned cleanly at three o'clock. The original and matching stick hands feature black inserts that perfectly complement the indices, accompanied by a sweeping seconds hand. Very minor dust or light aging on the hands is visible only under macro magnification, leaving the overall presentation incredibly sharp.
Case and Crystal
The 35 mm stainless steel tonneau case retains crisp and well-preserved geometry. The brushed top surface transitions cleanly to polished flanks, with edges and chamfers remaining sharp and well-defined. The smooth polished bezel integrates cleanly into the case design, presenting well with only minor handling marks. Wear is limited to light superficial scratches consistent with careful use over the decades. The caseback displays clear, deep engravings, including the Omega Seahorse logo and the 166026-TOOL 107 reference stamping. The watch is fitted with a signed Omega crown, its knurled texture remaining well-defined for easy operation. Above the dial, the domed acrylic crystal features an integrated date magnifier; it shows some light scratches and minor crazing that are only visible under harsh lighting angles.
Movement
The watch is powered by an automatic Omega caliber. On the timegrapher, it records a rate of +3s+5s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a period correct steel brick-link style bracelet that perfectly matches the late-1960s aesthetic of the tonneau case. The vintage brick-link design shows moderate wear and light scratches consistent with age, maintaining a highly comfortable drape on the wrist. It accommodates a maximum wrist size of up to 19 cm.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The watch has been wonderfully preserved, highlighted by an immaculate dial and a sharp case that retains its factory-intended finishes. The light superficial scratches on the steel case and moderate wear on the period correct bracelet are entirely consistent with careful, appreciative use. The domed acrylic crystal remains highly presentable, with only minor crazing noted under specific harsh lighting. The movement is performing beautifully, supported by excellent timegrapher results.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm in diameter (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Seamaster Cosmic stands out through its exceptionally clean dial and sharp case lines. The combination of the silver sunburst finish, black-insert indices, and fantastic mechanical performance makes it a highly attractive, ready-to-wear vintage Omega.
History
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seamaster Cosmic line represented Omega's forward-looking approach to case design. Moving away from traditional round profiles, the Cosmic embraced the tonneau shapes and integrated lines that would come to define the era. The "Tool 107" designation on the caseback refers to the specific Omega tool required to open the front-loading, single-piece case. Today, the Seamaster Cosmic is appreciated for its distinct retro-modern aesthetic, offering a unique wearing experience that remains unmistakably Omega.
