    About This Watch

Now available at auction from Second Vintage Presented here is a highly sought-after Omega Constellation featuring the celebrated C-shape case design. This collector favourite combines a wonderfully preserved silver sunburst dial with the renowned chronometer-certified Caliber 564 movement, offering a superb example of Omega’s mid-century design language. Brand: Omega Model: Constellation Reference Number: ST 168.017 Serial Number: 24818554 Movement: Automatic, Caliber 564 Dial: Silver sunburst with applied indices Case Size: 34mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: Circa 1966 Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: -32-36s/day, running strong and steady. Dial and Hands The exceptionally clean and attractive dial features a bright silver sunburst finish that remains very well preserved. The applied indices feature intact black inserts, complementing the crisp and legible printed text. Both the applied Omega logo and the signature Constellation star are fully present. The original stick hands, which also feature black inserts, show noticeable age-related oxidation and pitting on the metal surfaces, particularly near the center pinion. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case features the classic C-shape geometry, with brushed top surfaces transitioning to polished flanks. The case retains its original geometry, displaying honest wear consistent with its age, including visible scratches and minor dings along the edges and polished sides. The smooth polished bezel ring is integrated into the design and shows moderate surface scratches consistent with the rest of the case. Turning the watch over reveals a well-preserved observatory medallion on the caseback, complete with visible stars. The watch is fitted with a scalloped crown that is clearly signed with the Omega logo. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear but exhibiting some light surface scratches visible under certain lighting angles. Movement Inside beats the Omega Caliber 564, a 24-jewel automatic chronometer movement adjusted to five positions and temperature. The copper-colored plating is bright and well preserved, showing no obvious signs of corrosion or heavy moisture damage, though some minor marks are present on the screw heads and the edge of the rotor. The timegrapher records a rate of -32-36s/day. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. Strap The watch is paired with a high-quality black leather strap featuring an alligator grain pattern and white contrast stitching. Secured by a generic unmarked buckle, the strap appears to be in near-new condition. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally clean, while the original hands exhibit visible oxidation and pitting. The case and bezel retain their original geometry, showing honest age-related wear including scratches and minor dings. The acrylic crystal displays light surface scratches. The movement is running strong and steady, reflecting the well-preserved nature of this classic timepiece. Dimensions The case measures 34mm in diameter, excluding the crown. Remarks This Constellation offers a fantastic opportunity to acquire the sought-after C-shape design. With its wonderfully clean sunburst dial, sharp case geometry, and highly regarded chronometer movement, it is a brilliant addition to any vintage watch collection. History The Omega Constellation was introduced in 1952 as the brand's flagship chronometer collection, representing the pinnacle of their precision watchmaking. In the 1960s, the line evolved with the introduction of the C-shape case, a design widely associated with Gérald Genta that brought a more modern, integrated aesthetic to the collection. Powered by the celebrated Caliber 564, these models represent a golden era of mechanical watch production, combining rigorous chronometer certification with enduring mid-century style.
