Dial and Hands
The pristine and elegant champagne dial features a distinct vertical brushed finish that provides a beautiful texture. It is detailed with applied gold-tone indices featuring black inserts, alongside an applied gold-tone Omega logo. The printed text remains crisp and fully intact, with no visible spotting, staining, or moisture damage on the dial surface. The gold-tone baton hands also feature black inserts and display visible oxidation and spotting, particularly near the center pinion, providing a touch of aged character.
Case and Crystal
The gold-plated cushion case features a brushed front face that transitions smoothly to polished flanks. It displays honest vintage wear, with light surface scratches and minor handling marks consistent with age, while the edges remain relatively well-defined with no major dents or deep gouges visible. The gold-tone crown is signed with the Omega logo and shows some tarnish and wear to the plating in the recesses. A clear, domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, free of any significant scratches or crazing.
Movement
The watch is powered by the copper-colored Omega caliber 1012 automatic movement. The caliber presents a clean visual appearance with no obvious signs of corrosion or heavy scratching, while the rotor and bridges show standard factory finishing. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher records +10+16s/day with strong amplitude.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a brown textured leather strap in good condition, offering a classic pairing for the gold-tone case.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The pristine champagne dial is remarkably well-preserved, though the hands show visible oxidation near the center pinion. The gold-plated case retains well-defined edges with light surface scratches and minor handling marks, and the signed crown displays some tarnish in its recesses. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 32 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This De Ville excels through its beautifully preserved vertically brushed dial, reliable Caliber 1012 movement, and elegant cushion case geometry. It is a highly attractive vintage dress watch with strong visual presence.
History
Omega introduced the De Ville as a standalone collection in 1967, separating it from the Seamaster line to focus on refined, dress-oriented aesthetics. During the 1970s, the collection embraced the design language of the era, frequently utilizing distinct geometries like the cushion case. These models housed robust in-house automatic movements, maintaining Omega's reputation for mechanical reliability within a highly elegant exterior.
