Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is exceptionally preserved, radiating a brilliant finish that plays beautifully with the light and shows virtually no signs of age. It features applied gold-tone baton indices with striking black inserts, perfectly matched by the elegant dauphine-style hands which also carry the black inlay. An applied gold Omega logo sits proudly at twelve o'clock, with crisp, precise black typography throughout. The date aperture at three o'clock is framed in a matching gold tone, completing the sophisticated, highly legible, and remarkably clean display.
Case and Crystal
The 34mm gold-plated case retains excellent proportions, featuring elegant, gently sweeping lugs that showcase sharp lines and a refined profile. The signed, fluted Omega crown remains crisp and well-defined. The stainless steel caseback displays honest vintage wear with typical surface scratches, clearly bearing the "WATERPROOF" and "TOOL 106" outer engravings alongside the 166033 reference number. A high-domed hesalite (acrylic) crystal protects the dial, offering an unobstructed view of the pristine face beneath and maintaining the watch’s correct vintage profile.
Movement
Inside beats the highly regarded Omega Caliber 565, a beautifully copper-finished 24-jewel automatic movement renowned for its reliability and integrated quickset date mechanism. The movement presents very cleanly, with the 28744577 serial number clearly visible on the bridge. Recently serviced, it is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher indicates a superb +1 to +2 s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a handsome black leather strap featuring distinctive contrasting gold-tone stitching, beautifully complementing the gold-plated case and providing a comfortable, stylish presence on the wrist.
Condition
Presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally clean, standing out as a prime example of careful preservation with no visible spotting or damage. The case exhibits normal, honest wear consistent with its age, maintaining its structural integrity and elegant lines without heavy polishing. The stainless steel caseback shows expected surface scratches. The movement is running exceptionally well following its recent service, making this a highly wearable and collectible vintage Omega.
