Serial Number: 372335
Movement: Automatic Cal. 5606
Dial: Green Gradient with Faceted Crystal
Case Size: 34 mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Production Year: 1973
Condition: Good vintage condition. The watch shows honest signs of age on the case and crystal while retaining a beautiful dial. Timegrapher results indicate healthy movement performance. Please notice that the crown is working as intented, it is just simply pulled out on the images.
Dial and Hands
The dial features a stunning deep green gradient finish that transitions from a lighter center to darker edges, creating excellent depth and visual interest. Gold-tone applied baton indices with white accents complement the matching gold-tone handset. A framed day and date window is positioned at three o'clock, featuring a clear display. The distinct gold applied "LM" logo and Suwa factory symbol are present above the six o'clock position. The dial remains in excellent preservation, protected by the original style faceted mineral glass crystal which adds unique light play and character to the watch face.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel square case measures 34mm in width, offering a classic vintage fit that wears slightly larger due to its rectangular profile. The case displays normal signs of wear consistent with its age, including surface scratches and handling marks throughout the polished surfaces. The most defining feature is the faceted cut glass crystal, which has various angled planes. The crystal shows visible scratches and marks from use, which is typical for these exposed geometric glass designs, yet it remains fully functional and highly distinctive.
Movement
Powering the watch is the dependable Seiko caliber 5606 automatic movement, a 25-jewel high-grade mechanism known for its durability and engineering. The movement appears clean and is currently running within vintage tolerances. Timegrapher results show a performance between +9 and +18 seconds per day, which indicates a healthy movement.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching and a polished stainless steel pin buckle. The strap is in good condition, soft and pliable, and complements the sport-dress aesthetic of the Lord Matic design perfectly.
Condition
This timepiece is in good vintage condition. The case and crystal show visible wear and scratches commensurate with regular use over the decades. However, the dial remains clean and vibrant. It is a genuine example of Seiko's 1970s design language, running well and ready to be worn.
Dimensions
The case measures 34 mm in width excluding the crown.
Remarks
This specific reference 5606-5130 stands out for its bold geometry and that incredible green dial. The combination of the square "TV screen" case shape and the faceted crystal makes this a highly collectible variation of the Lord Matic series. It captures the essence of the funky and experimental design era of the 1970s while maintaining the elegance expected of the LM line.
History
The Lord Matic series was introduced by Seiko in 1968 as a mid-tier luxury line positioned just below the King Seiko and Grand Seiko. It utilized the high-grade 56 base movement, which was thinner and more advanced than previous iterations. These watches defined the "Grammar of Design" era for Seiko, offering high-end finishing and bold dials that have become highly sought after by collectors today for their quality and historical significance.
