Dial and Hands

The printed text is highly legible, with only minor spotting or dust particles visible under macro inspection. A framed day-date aperture sits neatly at the three o'clock position. These original hands display age-related oxidation, spotting, and minor corrosion, particularly on the minute and hour hands, while the sweep second hand remains relatively clean.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features a distinctive angular design with brushed and polished surfaces. It displays honest wear consistent with its age, showing visible scratches and scuffs on the flanks and the smooth, integrated polished bezel. The case edges appear slightly softened from previous wear or polishing. The caseback exhibits light scratches, though its factory markings remain clear. The watch is fitted with an unsigned fluted crown in good condition with well-defined ridges. The flat acrylic crystal is clear, presenting minor surface scratches visible at certain angles, but is free of major cracks or chips.
Movement
The watch is powered by the Seiko Caliber 5606 automatic movement, a respected caliber that supports both hacking and hand-winding. -30-35s/day. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The leather shows light wear and creasing.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The silver sunburst dial is exceptionally clean, while the original dauphine hands show visible age-related oxidation and minor corrosion. The stainless steel case and bezel exhibit honest wear, including visible scratches and slightly softened edges. The acrylic crystal shows minor surface scratches. The movement is performing well within expected vintage tolerances.
Dimensions
The case measures 36 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Lord Matic offers a striking combination of a pristine sunburst dial and a robust angular case. It remains a classic example of late-1960s Seiko design, delivering excellent mechanical value and enduring aesthetic appeal.
History
Introduced in 1968, the Seiko Lord Matic series was positioned as a high-quality automatic line sitting just below the prestigious King Seiko and Grand Seiko models. The reference 5606-7000 utilizes a front-loading monocoque case design, indicated by the "Open Thru Glass" inscription on the caseback. At its heart is the Caliber 5606, based on the King Seiko 56 movement family, which was notable for being thinner than other automatic movements of its era while offering advanced features like hacking and hand-winding.
