Dial and Hands
The highly attractive glossy black dial features the applied silver Big Rose logo and silver dart indices, complemented by silver printed text. The lume plots are small, aged, and intact. Minor dust and very light spotting are visible under macro observation, but the dial remains exceptionally well-preserved overall. The silver-tone dauphine hands feature aged and darkened lume that perfectly matches the dial plots. Light surface oxidation and micro-scratches are visible under magnification, presenting original-appearing hands with a matching vintage patina.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel Oyster case displays honest vintage wear, with moderate scratches consistent with its age. The reference 7965 is clearly engraved between the lugs at 12 o'clock, and the serial 279817 is clearly legible at 6 o'clock, while the inside of the caseback is stamped IV.59. The smooth stainless steel bezel exhibits moderate scratches and light dings consistent with the overall case wear. A domed acrylic crystal with a date cyclops protects the dial and shows light surface scratches. The watch is equipped with a signed crown featuring the Rolex coronet and underline, which displays moderate wear to the fluting and signature.
Movement
Powering the watch is an automatic movement with a signed rotor, featuring engravings that read TUDOR, AUTO-PRINCE, 25 RUBIES, and SWISS MADE. The caliber presents a generally clean appearance, noting some minor marks on the screw heads and light surface wear on the plates. Recording +10+12s/day on the timegrapher. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a signed Rolex solid-link Oyster bracelet, reference 78350, with endlinks stamped 557. The clasp features the recorded Rolex signature with the coronet. The bracelet shows moderate scratches and wear throughout. As noted in the observations, the 78350 is a sturdy, later-era genuine Rolex bracelet for the 1959 case. It accommodates a maximum wrist size of 17.5cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally preserved, while the hands show matching vintage patina and light oxidation. The case, bezel, and later-era Rolex bracelet display moderate scratches and marks consistent with honest use over the decades. The domed acrylic crystal exhibits light surface scratches, and the signed crown shows moderate wear. Supported by the timegrapher reading of +10+12s/day, the movement is performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.

The case measures 34mm (excluding the crown).

History
The Tudor Prince Oysterdate line represents a significant chapter in the brand's mid-century development, utilizing the robust Oyster case architecture pioneered by Rolex alongside reliable self-winding movements. The oversized "Big Rose" logo, used prominently during the late 1950s and 1960s, has become a definitive collector favourite, symbolizing Tudor's distinct identity before the transition to the shield emblem. Models from this era are celebrated for their enduring design and mechanical dependability.
