Dial and Hands
The dial is a masterclass in 1970s design, featuring a brilliant blue gradient that transitions from a lighter central vertical band to deep navy edges. The surface exhibits a subtle horizontal brushed texture that catches the light beautifully. Applied faceted indices, featuring both silver-tone and gold-tone elements, provide excellent depth and contrast. The applied Seiko logo and Lord Matic badge are sharply defined. The day-date window at 3 o'clock is framed in a gold-tone window. The dial appears very clean with no significant spotting or damage visible. The faceted baton hands show some visible aging and oxidation, particularly on the luminous material, which has taken on a greenish-cream hue.
Case and Crystal
The 37mm stainless steel case features a distinctive tonneau shape with a combination of brushed upper surfaces and polished flanks. The factory brushing remains visible on the top of the case, though softened slightly from age and wear. The case shows honest signs of vintage use, including light scratches and handling marks, but retains its overall geometry well. The watch is fitted with a stunning faceted crystal that creates dynamic reflections and optical illusions across the dial. The crystal shows some light surface scratches consistent with normal wear. The caseback is clearly engraved with the Seiko logo, water resistance markings, reference number, and serial number.
Movement
Powering this Lord Matic is the Seiko Caliber 5606A, a highly regarded 23-jewel automatic movement from the Daini Seikosha factory. The movement presents cleanly in the photographs, with the rotor and bridges showing a bright finish. The caliber and jewel count are clearly engraved on the rotor. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The timegrapher result is -32 to -40 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring a crocodile-grain pattern and contrasting white stitching. The strap is secured with a standard steel buckle and complements the vintage aesthetic of the timepiece.
Condition
This Seiko Lord Matic is presented in good vintage condition. The dial remains exceptionally vibrant and clean, while the hands show expected age-related oxidation. The case retains its original lines with honest wear. The faceted crystal, a defining feature of this model, is intact and visually striking despite minor surface marks.

History
Introduced in 1968, the Seiko Lord Matic (LM) series was designed as a premium offering, sitting just below the King Seiko and Grand Seiko lines. Powered by the sophisticated 56-series movements, which were also used in King Seiko models, the LM line offered high-quality automatics with hacking and hand-winding capabilities. The 1970s saw Seiko experimenting heavily with case shapes, dial colors, and faceted crystals, resulting in visually arresting timepieces like this reference 5606-7300, which perfectly encapsulates the era's adventurous design ethos.
