Dial and Hands
The exceptionally clean and well-preserved silver sunburst dial is defined by a striking crosshair design and crisp applied gold-tone indices. A date window at three o'clock is framed in gold-tone, complementing the applied Omega logo. The printing remains remarkably clean with minimal signs of aging. The original gold-tone dauphine hands show expected age-related oxidation, with spotting particularly visible on the minute hand.
Case and Crystal
The gold-tone case features classic straight lugs and retains good overall shape, displaying honest wear consistent with its age. Light surface scratches are visible on the integrated smooth gold-tone bezel and across the lugs. Some wear and minor pitting can be observed near the crown area, alongside plating loss on the edges of the signed gold-tone Omega crown. The stainless steel caseback proudly displays the distinctive Seamaster medallion. The domed acrylic crystal is generally clear, showing some minor surface scratches visible under certain lighting conditions.
Movement
The watch is powered by an automatic Omega movement. Recording +5+8s/day on the timegrapher, it is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a complementary black leather strap featuring contrast stitching. The strap is in good condition and secures with a gold-tone buckle, though a signature is not clearly visible.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The silver sunburst crosshair dial is exceptionally well-preserved, standing out as a highlight of this example, while the hands show natural age-related spotting and oxidation. The gold-tone case presents honest wear, including light surface scratches, some wear and minor pitting near the crown, and plating loss on the crown edges. The acrylic crystal has minor surface scratches. Supported by the timegrapher results, the automatic movement is running with excellent precision.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Seamaster De Ville is defined by its beautiful crosshair dial and crisp applied indices. It offers a highly wearable aesthetic and features the distinctive Seamaster medallion on the caseback, making it a very appealing choice for any vintage enthusiast.
History
The Seamaster De Ville utilized Omega's monocoque, or front-loading, case design. This robust architecture was produced in stainless steel, gold-capped, and solid gold variations, frequently featuring the Hippocampus medallion on the caseback. The model line remains a celebrated chapter in Omega's mid-century production, appreciated for its clean lines and reliable automatic calibers.
