Dial and Hands
The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, featuring a distinct vertically brushed gold-tone finish. Applied black baton indices provide excellent contrast, perfectly matched by the black stick hands. The hands remain in excellent shape, showing an intact finish with no visible corrosion or bending. All printed text and the Longines logo are crisp and fully intact, with no visible spotting, staining, or significant damage present anywhere on the dial surface.
Case and Crystal
The gold-tone tonneau and cushion-shaped case presents honest vintage wear with a beautifully preserved overall geometry. Light surface scratches consistent with age and use are present, along with minor plating wear visible on some edges and corners. The stainless steel caseback shows light scratches. The bezel is seamlessly integrated into the case design. On the side, the gold-tone crown features well-defined knurling and is clearly signed with the Longines text and winged hourglass logo. A clear domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, displaying no major scratches, cracks, or crazing.
Movement
Powering the watch is the Longines manual wind caliber L847.4, a 17-jewel movement operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Introduced in 1975, this caliber was designed to provide a 40-hour power reserve. The movement itself appears generally clean, bearing clear engravings including Longines Watch Co Swiss, the jewel count, and the caliber designation. There are some minor marks on the screw heads, and significant tarnishing and oxidation are visible on the brass-colored movement spacer and case interior surrounding the caliber. Recording -20-25s/day on the timegrapher, the watch is performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a fresh black leather strap featuring contrast stitching. It appears to be in near-new condition with minimal wear, secured by an unsigned gold-tone buckle that is highly complementary to the watch head.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial and hands are exceptionally well-preserved and clean. The case exhibits honest wear, including light surface scratches and minor plating wear on the edges and corners. While the movement itself is generally clean with minor marks on the screw heads, there is significant tarnishing and oxidation on the brass-colored movement spacer. The watch is running and performing strongly on the timegrapher.
