Now available at auction from Second Vintage This distinctive Seiko Lord Matic features a vibrant green vignette dial paired with a striking faceted crystal. While the Lord Matic line is well known among enthusiasts, configurations featuring these richly colored fumé dials and intact geometric crystals remain sought-after by collectors for their expressive 1970s character. Brand: Seiko Model: Lord Matic Movement: Automatic caliber 5606A, 23 jewels, with English and Kanji day wheel Dial: Green vignette fading to dark edges with gold-tone accents Case Size: 36 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: 1970s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +50+52s/day, running in operational condition. Dial and Hands The striking green vignette dial, often referred to as a fumé finish, fades elegantly from a vibrant center to dark edges. It is framed by a gold-tone outer chapter ring that complements the applied Seiko and LM logos. The dial surface is exceptionally well-preserved and clean, showing no visible spotting, staining, or damage. Providing a sharp contrast to the green backdrop, the gold-tone faceted hands exhibit minor surface oxidation and light aging visible under magnification. A desirable English and Kanji day-date display sits cleanly at the three o'clock position. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case features a classic combination of brushed and polished surfaces. It displays moderate scratches and handling wear consistent with its age, presenting honest vintage character while retaining generally well-defined case lines and geometry. The watch is designed without a distinct bezel, allowing the distinctive faceted crystal to mount directly to the case. This original geometric crystal exhibits minor surface scratches and light wear visible at certain angles. An unsigned steel crown, showing normal handling wear, completes the case profile. Movement Inside the watch is the automatic Seiko caliber 5606A, featuring 23 jewels. The movement maintains a clean overall visual appearance, with no obvious corrosion, heavy oxidation, or missing parts visible upon inspection. The rotor and bridges clearly bear the SEIKO, 23 JEWELS, and JAPAN 5606A engravings. The timegrapher records a rate of +50+52s/day. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel link bracelet. The clasp is clearly signed SEIKO LM, and the endlinks are stamped XGB 221. The bracelet shows moderate scratches and scuffs across the clasp and links, displaying honest wear that perfectly matches the condition of the case. It can accommodate a maximum wrist fit of up to 19cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The timepiece features an exceptionally clean and vibrant dial, while the case and original bracelet display honest handling wear and moderate scratches expected from a 1970s watch. The faceted crystal shows minor surface wear, and the hands have developed light oxidation visible under magnification. Timegrapher results confirm the movement is running in operational condition. Dimensions 36 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Lord Matic stands out through its brilliant green vignette dial and original faceted crystal, creating a highly dynamic visual presence on the wrist. Complete with its original signed bracelet and the desirable English and Kanji day wheel, it is an attractive and sought-after configuration for any vintage collector. History Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seiko Lord Matic line was positioned just below the King Seiko and Grand Seiko ranges, offering quality automatic movements and high-level case finishing to a broader audience. The caliber 5606 became one of Seiko's most reliable and widely utilized movements of the era, celebrated for its slim profile and smooth operation. As the 1970s progressed, Seiko began experimenting with bolder designs. Examples featuring vibrant colored fumé dials and intricate faceted crystals have become sought-after, perfectly reflecting the adventurous and expressive design language of Japanese watchmaking during that fascinating decade. / Second Vintage SKU: SEI-LJX-0022
