A classic 1970s Rado with a striking gradient dial, this Alpineum presents a fantastic opportunity for enthusiasts of distinctive mid-century design. Dial and Hands
The dial features a striking and well-preserved gradient grey-to-brown fumé finish. It is accented by applied faceted indices with white inserts and the applied Rado anchor logo. A distinctive red date display sits at three o'clock. The surface is exceptionally clean, with no significant spotting or damage visible. The original baton hands, complete with white inserts and a sweep center seconds hand, show appropriate light aging and oxidation visible under magnification.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel cushion case is preserved in honest vintage condition. It features brushed upper surfaces contrasting with polished flanks, and the edges remain relatively well defined. There are light to moderate surface scratches consistent with normal wear over the decades. The crown is signed with the Rado anchor logo and shows light wear to the knurling. A flat acrylic crystal provides a clear, clean view of the dial and exhibits no major scratches or cracks.
Movement
Inside beats the ETA caliber 2824. The movement features a rotor decorated with engine turning and perlage, and bears engravings reading "RADO 25 JEWELS", "2824", and "SWISS". It presents a remarkably clean appearance with no visible corrosion or significant marks. Recording +6+9s/day on the timegrapher. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel flat link bracelet. The clasp is correctly signed with the Rado name and anchor logo. The bracelet remains in good wearable condition, showing normal surface scratches and wear consistent with age, and accommodates a maximum wrist size of 18 cm.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally well preserved, while the hands show appropriate light oxidation. The stainless steel case and original bracelet display light to moderate surface scratches and normal wear consistent with age, retaining good definition overall. Supported by the recorded timegrapher data, the movement is performing very strongly.
