Dial and Hands
The matte black dial is in well-preserved condition, offering a highly attractive vintage aesthetic. Its painted luminous indices have aged to a warm, even creamy patina, creating strong visual character. All printed text remains crisp and fully intact. The watch is fitted with a Mercedes-style handset featuring luminous material that closely matches the dial indices in color. Visible oxidation and spotting are present on the metal frames of the hands, showing typical aging for the era.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features a brushed finish and displays honest wear consistent with age and use. Moderate scratches and scuffs are visible along the case flanks and lugs. The unidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with a black insert, showing light scratches and minor wear on both the insert and the outer steel grip ring. The screw-down crown is signed with the Omega logo and shows moderate surface wear. The flat crystal appears clear with no significant scratches or chips visible. The caseback shows light surface wear but retains clear, legible engravings.
Movement
Powering the watch is the Omega quartz caliber 1438. The movement appears clean with no visible signs of corrosion or battery leakage. It features clear engravings including OMEGA, 1438, SIX 6 JEWELS, SWISS, and V8.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed integrated stainless steel bracelet. This sturdy bracelet shows normal signs of wear, with moderate scratches and scuffs present throughout the links and clasp. The folding clasp is clearly signed with the Omega logo and name. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist size of 18.5 cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch displays honest wear across the stainless steel case, bezel, and integrated bracelet, with moderate scratches and scuffs consistent with its age and use. The dial is exceptionally well-preserved with a strong, attractive patina, while the hands display visible oxidation. The crystal remains clear, and the quartz movement appears clean.
Dimensions
The case measures 37 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Seamaster Professional offers an appealing combination of robust design and attractive dial aging. The warm, creamy patina against the matte black dial provides tremendous character, making it a superb choice for enthusiasts of 1990s sports watches.
History
The Omega Seamaster 200m, widely known by collectors as the "Pre-Bond," represents a significant transitional period in the brand's dive watch lineage. Introduced in the late 1980s and produced into the 1990s, this model bridged the gap between earlier robust tool watches and the modern Seamaster Professional line. Characterized by its integrated bracelet and distinctive handset, it has become a sought-after reference for collectors who appreciate its unique position in Omega's history and its highly wearable proportions.
