Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial presents an attractive light patina, featuring applied baton indices with black inserts and a framed date window at the three o'clock position. Close inspection under magnification reveals minor spotting and natural aging across the surface, giving the watch a distinct and honest character. The original dauphine style hands, also featuring matching black inserts, display minor surface wear and oxidation consistent with the age of the timepiece.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case displays honest wear, retaining its polished and brushed lug finishes alongside a smooth polished steel bezel. Moderate scratches and handling marks are visible on the flanks, lugs, and bezel, reflecting decades of regular use. The scalloped crown is correctly signed with the Omega logo. Protecting the dial is a clear domed acrylic crystal that exhibits minimal scratches and features the signature Omega logo etched directly in the center.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the Omega Caliber 565 automatic movement, featuring 24 jewels and the brand's signature copper-colored plating. The movement presents a clean appearance with no obvious signs of corrosion or damage, clearly displaying its factory engravings and the serial number matching the 1967 production year. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher records a rate of +15+17s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring an alligator grain pattern and white contrast stitching. The strap appears lightly used or new, offering a comfortable and classic pairing for the steel case.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The stainless steel case and polished bezel remain structurally sound while showing moderate scratches and handling marks on the flanks and lugs. The silver sunburst dial and dauphine hands present an attractive light patina, with minor spotting and surface oxidation visible under magnification. The domed acrylic crystal is clear with minimal wear. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result of +15+17s/day, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 35mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Seamaster offers a superb combination of a silver sunburst dial, honest vintage character, and a highly capable Caliber 565 automatic movement. The presence of the signed scalloped crown and etched crystal further enhances its appeal for dedicated collectors seeking a classic Omega dress watch.
History
The Omega Seamaster line has been a fixture of the brand's catalog since its introduction in 1948, originally designed to provide robust and reliable timekeeping for active individuals. The Caliber 565 is highly regarded among enthusiasts for its reliable construction and practical quickset date mechanism, representing a high point in Omega's mid-century movement design.
