Serial Number: 1875551
Movement: Automatic, Caliber 8541
Dial: Silver sunburst finish with applied baton indices

Dial and Hands
The dial features a refined silver sunburst finish that is well preserved, displaying only minor edge aging. Applied baton indices provide excellent legibility alongside a cleanly framed date window positioned at three o'clock. Upon close inspection, minor brownish spotting is visible on the extreme right edge near the three and four o'clock positions. The original dauphine style hands exhibit visible aging, with natural oxidation and spotting present across their metal surfaces.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case, marked with Staybrite on the interior, displays honest vintage wear. It bears moderate scratches and handling marks throughout its surfaces, while the lugs retain a generally good shape. Some pitting and dirt accumulation are visible near the edge of the caseback. A smooth integrated bezel surrounds the domed acrylic crystal, which shows minor surface scratches. The case is completed by its classic original crown, which is signed with the IWC fish logo and exhibits moderate wear consistent with the rest of the timepiece.
Movement
Inside the case beats the renowned IWC Caliber 8541 automatic movement. The mechanism displays clean plates and bridges, clearly revealing the sophisticated Pellaton winding system. Engravings reading C.8541, 1854121, and INTERNATIONAL WATCH Co. SWISS are clearly present, while the rotor edge shows minor wear. The timegrapher records +35+37s/day. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The strap appears unworn or very lightly used, providing a comfortable and contemporary pairing for the vintage case.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch presents as an honest example with moderate scratches and handling marks across the stainless steel case, along with some pitting and dirt accumulation near the caseback edge. The dial is well preserved with only minor brownish spotting on the extreme right edge, while the original hands show visible oxidation. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is running strong and steady.
Dimensions
The case measures 36mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This IWC offers collectors an excellent opportunity to acquire a robust 1960s timepiece powered by one of the era's most respected automatic calibers. The combination of the original fish-signed crown, the reliable Caliber 8541, and the classic silver sunburst dial makes this a highly appealing mechanical watch.
History
The International Watch Company has long been celebrated for producing exceptional mechanical movements, and the 1960s represented a golden era for their engineering department. The development of the Pellaton winding system by Albert Pellaton revolutionized automatic watchmaking by offering a highly efficient and durable bi-directional winding mechanism. Calibers like the 8541 became renowned among collectors for their longevity, precision, and shock resistance. Watches from this period remain highly respected for pairing elegant, understated aesthetics with truly robust internal mechanics.
