The standard production model is complemented by a pristine gold-tone brushed dial and a distinctive Tokyo Metropolitan Government retirement engraving on the caseback, offering a personalized touch to a refined 1980s timepiece. Brand: Omega Model: De Ville Reference Number: MD 1960 312 Serial Number: 51835011 Movement: Quartz, caliber 1430 Dial: Gold-tone brushed with applied baton indices Case Size: 33 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-plated, stainless steel caseback Production Year: 1989 Condition: Good vintage condition. Dial and Hands The watch features a pristine and minimalist gold-tone brushed dial that remains exceptionally clean, showing no visible blemishes, spotting, or patina. It is appointed with applied baton indices in excellent condition and a practical date window positioned at 3 o'clock. The original stick hands feature a dark finish that contrasts beautifully against the bright dial. While well-preserved, the hands display slight aging, with minor surface texture and spotting visible under macro inspection on the minute hand. Case and Crystal The gold-plated case presents honest wear with a personalized history, displaying moderate surface scratches and handling marks consistent with its age. The bezel is seamlessly integrated into the case design, maintaining the slim dress profile. On the reverse, the stainless steel press-in caseback features a personalized Tokyo Metropolitan Government retirement engraving, alongside multiple watchmaker marks visible on the inside. The watch is fitted with an unsigned, ridged gold-tone crown. A flat crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with no significant scratches, chips, or hazing visible. Movement Powering this timepiece is the Omega caliber 1430, a reliable analog electronic quartz movement featuring six jewels. The movement is remarkably clean, with a battery currently installed, and displays no visible corrosion, staining, or damage. The caliber is clearly engraved with standard Omega markings, including "SIX 6 JEWELS," "SWISS V8," "9951," "206W," and the caliber designation. Strap The watch is paired with a black leather strap featuring a crocodile pattern. The strap shows light wear and is secured by an unsigned gold-tone buckle, providing a classic dress pairing that perfectly complements the gold-tone case. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, while the hands show only minor, age-appropriate texture under magnification. The gold-plated case exhibits moderate surface scratches and handling marks indicative of honest wear over the decades. The quartz movement is clean, intact, and visually excellent. Dimensions The case measures 33 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This De Ville combines a pristine brushed dial with a highly reliable Omega quartz caliber in a classic 33 mm dress proportion. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government engraving adds an intriguing layer of provenance, making it a distinctive and elegant choice for collectors of personalized vintage timepieces. History The reference MD 196.0312 was introduced as part of Omega's De Ville 'Ile de France' international collection, which was produced between 1986 and 1992. Designed as a refined dress watch, the 'Ile de France' line prioritized slim profiles and elegant aesthetics, utilizing the brand's caliber 1430 analog electronic quartz movement to achieve its slender case geometry.
