Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is well-preserved and clean, showing minimal signs of aging. It features applied black and gold-tone indices that provide clear contrast against the bright finish, complemented by a neatly positioned date window at 3 o'clock. The black stick hands maintain a clean finish with no significant oxidation or damage, matching the excellent preservation of the dial.
Case and Crystal
The 24 mm gold-plated case is fitted with a stainless steel caseback and an integrated gold-plated bezel. The case exhibits honest vintage wear, with moderate scratches and handling marks throughout, alongside visible plating wear and tarnish on the edges and lugs. The gold-tone crown is signed with the Omega logo and shows light wear to its knurling and surface. The domed acrylic crystal contains light surface scratches that become visible under angled light.
Movement
Inside beats the automatic Omega Caliber 684. The movement displays traditional copper-colored finishing and presents a clean appearance with no visible corrosion, retaining a well-preserved rotor and bridges. Engravings for OMEGA WATCH Co, SWISS, and the matching serial number 41530311 are clearly visible. Timegrapher testing indicates +8+10s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a black leather strap featuring contrast stitching. The strap is in good condition, showing light wear and creasing from previous use.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The case and bezel display honest wear, including moderate scratches, handling marks, and specific plating wear with tarnish on the lugs and edges. The crystal shows light surface scratches. In contrast, the dial and hands remain exceptionally clean. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 24 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This De Ville combines a highly legible, well-preserved silver sunburst dial with a capable automatic Omega caliber. The honest wear to the case is balanced by the excellent condition of the face and the strong timegrapher results, making it a reliable and attractive vintage dress watch.
History
The Omega De Ville collection originally debuted as part of the Seamaster line before becoming a standalone family in 1967. Positioned as Omega's dedicated dress watch collection, the De Ville prioritized elegance, refined case geometries, and sophisticated dials over the robust sporting characteristics of the Seamaster and Speedmaster lines. Standard production ladies' models from the late 1970s, such as this example, continue to represent the classic design language of the era.
