Serial Number: 37168329
Movement: Manual wind caliber 625
Dial: Brushed grey with white printed indices
Case Size: 24mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Gold-plated, stainless steel caseback
Production Year: 1973
Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +6+10s/day, performing remarkably well.
Dial and Hands
The dial features a highly preserved brushed grey and champagne finish. The white printed text and indices are crisp and intact, creating an exceptionally clean visual presence with no visible spotting, staining, or damage. The white painted stick hands match the dial indices perfectly, with the paint appearing entirely intact and showing no visible flaking or discoloration.
Case and Crystal
The rectangular case is designed with distinctive cut corners and exhibits honest wear consistent with age. Constructed with a 20-micron gold-plated upper and a stainless steel caseback, the polished surfaces show visible scratches and handling marks. Some tarnishing and minor plating wear are visible on the edges and lugs, presenting surface oxidation. The watch retains its signed Omega crown, though the knurling shows some wear and dirt accumulation. The distinctive faceted crystal features a flat top with faceted edges; it displays minor surface scratches and dust under direct light, but no major chips or cracks are observed.
Movement
The watch is powered by the manual wind Omega caliber 625. The movement bears clear engravings including OMEGA WATCH CO SWISS, the Omega logo, the caliber number 625, and the serial number 37168329. Visually, the copper-colored plates show some discoloration and tarnishing, and significant dark spotting and corrosion are visible on the winding wheels. The timegrapher recorded a rate of +6+10s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet, featuring a woven metal mesh design. The clasp is signed with the Omega logo. This distinctive period bracelet shows noticeable surface aging, including visible tarnishing, oxidation, and plating wear throughout the links and clasp. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist size of 18cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial and hands remain exceptionally well-preserved and pristine, contrasting with the honest, visible wear on the exterior components. The gold-plated case and original woven mesh bracelet exhibit surface scratches, tarnishing, and plating wear consistent with age, while the faceted crystal shows minor surface marks. The movement displays visible corrosion and tarnishing on the winding wheels and plates, yet is running beautifully and supported by very strong timegrapher results.
Dimensions
24mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This De Ville stands out through its pristine brushed grey dial and distinctive geometric presence. The combination of the faceted crystal and the original woven mesh bracelet offers striking 1970s character for the dedicated collector.
History
Introduced in the late 1960s as a standalone collection, the Omega De Ville line was created to offer refined, elegant timepieces distinct from the brand's sportier Seamaster range. By the 1970s, the collection embraced bold geometric designs and creative crystal shapes, reflecting the era's aesthetic shifts. The reference 511.447 / 711.1803 features a 20-micron gold-plated case with a stainless steel back, housing the reliable manual-wind caliber 625. This specific model highlights Omega's dedication to sophisticated dress watches during a highly expressive period in watchmaking design.
