Moderate scratches and handling wear are present throughout, alongside some dings and edge wear visible on the lugs and case flanks. The thin integrated bezel shows scratches and wear consistent with the rest of the case. Turning the watch over reveals a stainless steel caseback featuring a remarkably well-preserved gold GS medallion. The original crown is signed with the GS logo and its knurling shows normal wear. The flat crystal is clear with no major scratches, chips, or cracks visible, displaying only some minor dust or superficial marks. Movement Inside beats the Caliber 5645A, a 25-jewel automatic movement that operates at a hi-beat frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and is adjusted to five positions and temperature. The attractive dial is well-preserved, showing only minor, scattered micro-spotting under macro inspection, complemented by crisp applied indices. The original hands exhibit minor surface oxidation. The crystal remains clear with only superficial marks. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. With its hi-beat movement, preserved gold medallion, and sharp case geometry, it is a compelling choice for enthusiasts of classic Japanese watchmaking. History The 56GS series holds a significant place in horological history, introduced in late 1970. These models represent the final mechanical Grand Seiko timepieces produced before the brand temporarily ceased mechanical production due to the Quartz Crisis. The case design of the 5645-7010 follows Taro Tanaka's famous Grammar of Design principles, establishing a visual language that remains highly respected among collectors today.
