This Omega Genève Chronostop is a brilliant example of late 1960s sports watch design, combining a clean, minimalist aesthetic with a unique single-pusher chronograph function. Dial and Hands
The silver dial is in outstanding condition, displaying a subtle, fine grain texture that catches the light beautifully. The applied, faceted hour markers feature black central inserts, providing excellent contrast and legibility, perfectly matched by the black-accented baton hands. The typography, including the applied Omega logo and the distinctive "Chronostop" script, remains sharp and fully intact. A framed date window sits cleanly at the 3 o'clock position. The dial surface is remarkably clean, showing only the faintest signs of age-appropriate patina under close inspection, free from any significant spotting, staining, or damage. The central chronograph seconds hand presents cleanly.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm stainless steel case features a distinctive tonneau-shaped profile with integrated lugs, a hallmark of late 60s Omega design. The case remains in excellent condition, retaining sharp lines and the original brushed finish on the upper surfaces, which transitions cleanly to polished flanks. Honest signs of light wear are present, consistent with careful use, but the case appears unpolished and robust. The single chronograph pusher at 2 o'clock and the signed Omega crown at 4 o'clock are well-preserved. The domed crystal is clear and free from deep scratches, allowing an unobstructed view of the dial. The screw-down caseback is clean, displaying "Waterproof Tested 30m" engravings.
Movement
Powering this watch is the Omega Caliber 920, a manual-wind, 17-jewel movement featuring a unique single-pusher chronograph mechanism and a date complication. The copper-finished movement presents beautifully, with clean bridges and crisp engravings. The serial number 29126376 dates production to approximately 1969. The caliber markings and Omega hallmarks are clearly visible. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher recorded +2 to +7 seconds per day with strong amplitude.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original stainless steel mesh bracelet, which complements the sporty aesthetic of the Chronostop perfectly. The bracelet is in good condition, showing normal signs of wear, and features a fold-over clasp prominently signed with the Omega logo.
Condition
This Omega Genève Chronostop is in excellent vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally clean, the case retains its factory finishes and sharp lines, and the movement is running with impressive precision. It is a highly attractive and well-preserved example of this unique Omega model.

History
Introduced in 1966, the Omega Chronostop was designed as a simplified, more affordable alternative to traditional multi-register chronographs. It was initially marketed towards younger buyers and sports enthusiasts who needed to time short events. The single-pusher design, where the user presses the button to start the central seconds hand, presses and holds to read the time, and releases to reset, is a unique and defining feature of the model. The Chronostop was produced in various case shapes, including the dynamic, driver-style, and the classic Genève line seen here. The addition of the date complication (Caliber 920) added everyday practicality to this innovative sports watch. Today, the Chronostop is celebrated for its distinctive design and its place in Omega's history of precision timing.
