This diminutive 17mm timepiece features a distinctive fluted lug design, excellent dial preservation, and houses the highly regarded Omega Caliber 661 automatic movement. Brand: Omega Model: De Ville Reference Number: 551005 Movement: Omega Caliber 661, automatic, 24 jewels Dial: Silver sunburst with applied gold-tone indices Case Size: 17 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-plated, stainless steel caseback Production Year: 1960s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +9+13s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The dial is exceptionally well-preserved and highly legible, featuring a silver sunburst finish. Applied gold-tone baton indices with black inserts provide excellent contrast, complemented by crisp printing throughout. The gold-tone baton hands also feature black inserts and remain in a clean condition matching the indices, demonstrating excellent preservation overall. Case and Crystal The 17mm gold-plated case features a stainless steel caseback and a distinctive fluted and faceted lug design. The case flanks and lugs exhibit moderate scratches alongside visible tarnish and oxidation, presenting honest wear with an attractive vintage character. The signed Omega crown shows typical wear and some plating loss. A striking faceted acrylic crystal adds distinct character to the watch, though it displays some light scratches and scuffs, particularly near the edges. Movement Powering this watch is the copper-colored Omega Caliber 661. This automatic movement features a visible rotor and bears engravings reading OMEGA WATCH Co, SWISS, TWENTY-FOUR 24 JEWELS, 661, and ADJUSTED TWO (2) POSITIONS. It maintains a clean overall appearance with only minor marks on the screw heads. The timegrapher records +9+13s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with a black double-cord strap featuring gold-tone hardware. This worn vintage cord strap shows significant wear and fraying at the lug attachments. Condition Good vintage condition. The case exhibits moderate scratches and oxidation, primarily on the flanks and lugs, alongside wear on the signed crown. The faceted crystal shows light scuffs near the edges, and the cord strap displays significant fraying. Conversely, the dial and hands are exceptionally well-preserved and highly legible. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions Case Size: 17 mm (excluding the crown) Remarks The striking faceted crystal, the well-preserved dial, and the impressive mechanical performance of the diminutive Caliber 661 make this Omega De Ville a compelling vintage timepiece. The distinctive lug geometry further enhances its elegant profile on the wrist. History The Omega De Ville line originally began as part of the Seamaster collection before becoming a standalone family known for its refined, dress-oriented styling. During the 1960s, Omega produced highly regarded miniaturized mechanical movements. The Caliber 661 demonstrates this engineering capability, packing a 24-jewel automatic winding system into an incredibly small footprint. These elegant ladies' models remain appreciated by collectors for their classic design language and high-grade mechanical construction.
