The matching Dauphine style hour and minute hands feature a clean silver-tone finish with minimal oxidation. A straight, clean sweep second hand completes the display.
Case and Crystal
The 36mm stainless steel case features a polished finish and a smooth, integrated bezel. It displays honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches and scuffs consistent with age and use. Remarks
This Seiko Skyliner distinguishes itself through an incredibly clean silver sunburst dial and sharp applied indices. The combination of the reliable Seikosha 402 movement and the visible seahorse caseback makes it a highly attractive choice for enthusiasts of mid-century Japanese watchmaking.
History
Introduced in the 1960s, the Seiko Skyliner was designed as a more accessible version of the thin, luxury Seiko Liner. Its movement is based on the architecture of the Seiko Marvel, modified to be thinner and updated with Diafix shock protection. The model is also recognized for its distinctive caseback, which features a classic seahorse engraving, making it a celebrated reference point in Seiko's mid-century catalog.
