Dial and Hands
The flawless and highly attractive grey gradient, or fumé, dial is preserved in exceptional condition. Clean and bright applied faceted indices complement the applied Rado anchor logo, while all printed text remains crisp with no visible loss. A vibrant red date display at the three o'clock position adds a striking touch of contrast. The clean, highly legible original silver-tone baton hands feature black central stripes and present minimal signs of oxidation or aging.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel tonneau case is a well-preserved 1970s example with strong original finishing. It features brushed upper surfaces and polished flanks, retaining strong geometry and crisp transitions between the contrasting finishes. The case shows light, honest wear with minor superficial scratches. A polished steel bezel ring frames the domed acrylic crystal, which remains clear with no significant scratches, crazing, or chips. The bezel itself exhibits light micro-scratches consistent with careful use. The watch retains its original crown, signed with the Rado anchor logo, displaying good definition on both the logo and the knurling.
Movement
Powering this Spacewing is a gold-tone ETA caliber 2783 automatic movement. The rotor is signed by Rado, and the movement is engraved with '25 JEWELS' and 'SWISS'. The caliber appears clean with no visible corrosion, staining, or significant tool marks. The timegrapher records a rate of -4s-6s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel mesh bracelet, which is highly attractive and perfectly suited to the tonneau case. The mesh is in excellent condition, showing no visible kinks or heavy distortion. The clasp is prominently signed with the Rado seahorse logo. The bracelet will comfortably accommodate a maximum wrist size of up to 20 cm.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The case is well-preserved, showing only light, honest wear and minor superficial scratches while retaining its crisp geometry. The striking gradient dial and hands are in exceptional, bright condition with no notable degradation. The original mesh bracelet remains structurally sound and highly attractive. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case size is 35 mm (excluding the crown).

History
Rado established a strong reputation in the mid-twentieth century for its bold, unconventional case shapes and innovative materials. During the 1970s, models like the Spacewing embraced the era's futuristic design language, utilizing tonneau cases, gradient dials, and integrated-style bracelets to create highly distinctive timepieces. Powered by robust Swiss calibers, these watches provided reliable everyday performance alongside their striking aesthetics. Today, well-preserved examples retaining their original bracelets are highly appreciated by vintage enthusiasts.
