Dial and Hands
The highly attractive silver sunburst dial is well preserved, featuring crisp and intact applied gold-tone indices alongside the signature Rado logos. A distinctive red date display sits neatly at the three o'clock position. Under macro inspection, minor dust and very light spotting are visible, while the printed text remains sharp and fully legible. The gold-tone dauphine hands show noticeable surface oxidation and spotting, displaying expected age-related patina, and the sweep second hand remains intact with minor aging.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm gold-tone case retains good overall geometry, showing honest wear consistent with age. There are moderate surface scratches and handling wear throughout, along with visible plating wear and tarnishing on the edges and lug tips. The smooth, integrated gold-tone bezel exhibits light scratches and minor wear. The knurled crown shows significant plating loss and wear from regular use. Turning the watch over reveals a well-preserved stainless steel caseback featuring clear patent and reference engravings. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with some light surface scratches and minor dust, but no major cracks or chips are visible.
Movement
Inside beats the Rado Caliber 1700/01, a 30-jewel automatic movement. The movement appears clean with no obvious signs of heavy corrosion or moisture damage. The rotor and bridges show light superficial scratches, while the factory engravings remain crisp and clear. Recording +10+15s/day on the timegrapher, the movement is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a standard black leather strap featuring an embossed pattern. It is in wearable condition, showing light wear and creasing from use.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The timepiece shows honest, moderate surface scratches and handling wear on the gold-tone case, with visible plating wear and tarnishing on the lug tips, edges, and crown. The dial is excellently preserved with only minor spotting visible under magnification, while the hands display noticeable surface oxidation. The movement is clean and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly.
