Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is beautifully preserved, radiating a subtle and elegant texture under the light. It is adorned with applied, faceted rectangular indices that feature black central stripes, providing both depth and excellent legibility. At twelve o'clock, the applied Seiko "5" shield sits proudly above the crisp, serif and script typography of the "Seiko Sportsmatic Deluxe" branding. The lower half of the dial clearly displays the "DIASHOCK 25 JEWELS" print. A sharply framed day and date aperture is positioned at three o'clock, featuring a Kanji day wheel. The classic dauphine hands are well-preserved and complement the dial furniture perfectly. A rigorous visual inspection reveals the dial to be in exceptionally clean condition, free from notable spots, moisture stains, or print loss, representing a truly stunning vintage presentation.
Case and Crystal
The 38mm stainless steel case retains its architectural integrity, showcasing sharp lug profiles and distinct factory chamfers that highlight Seiko's renowned case design. The transition between the polished bezel, case flanks, and the lug facets remains well-defined. Honest, light handling marks and superficial scratches are visible upon close inspection, entirely consistent with careful vintage wear, but the case shows no signs of heavy over-polishing. A recessed crown is neatly tucked at the four o'clock position, accompanied by a dedicated pusher at three o'clock for the date quickset function. The domed acrylic crystal is clear and offers an undistorted view of the pristine dial below. The screw-down caseback is deeply engraved with the iconic Seiko dolphin motif, along with the reference and serial numbers, all remaining highly legible.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the Seiko automatic caliber 7619A, a 25-jewel movement equipped with the Diashock anti-shock system. The movement presents cleanly in the provided images, with the rotor clearly displaying the caliber designation and jewel count in distinct red lettering. Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher result is -55 to -60 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period correct black textured leather strap featuring contrasting white stitching, secured by a classic stainless steel pin buckle.
Condition
This timepiece is in excellent vintage condition. The dial is the clear highlight, remaining incredibly clean and vibrant. The case retains its sharp lines and original geometry with only age-appropriate, light surface wear, making it a highly attractive example for any vintage enthusiast.

Remarks
The 5 Sportsmatic Deluxe stands out for its elevated finishing and the mechanical convenience of the dedicated date quickset pusher. Finding an example with such a pristine silver sunburst dial and a sharp, unpolished case profile is becoming increasingly difficult, making this a noteworthy addition to any vintage Seiko collection.
History
