History Introduced in 1959, the Seiko Crown line represented a significant technical step forward for the brand. Utilizing a larger mainspring and balance wheel than its predecessor, the Crown architecture proved so successful that it served as the foundational base for the very first Grand Seiko in 1960. Today, the Crown remains highly respected among enthusiasts of early Japanese watchmaking for its elegant proportions and historical importance.
