Powered by a reliable ETA-based automatic movement, this cushion-cased timepiece delivers both visual intrigue and mechanical dependability. Brand: Rado Model: Rado Serbia (010080) Serial Number: 343942 Movement: Automatic, ETA caliber 2783, 25 jewels Dial: Grey sunburst with applied indices and red date numerals Case Size: 37mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1970s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +6+10s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The striking and well-preserved dial features a grey sunburst finish in excellent condition. It is detailed with applied silver-tone indices and the signature Rado anchor logo in the upper half. The printed 'SERBIA' text at six o'clock remains crisp, while the date window at three o'clock displays distinctive red numerals. The silver-tone baton hands carry luminous material that shows significant aging, discoloration, and some degradation, providing a strong aged character to the display. Case and Crystal The stainless steel cushion case is defined by brushed upper surfaces and polished flanks, displaying honest wear consistent with age. There are moderate scratches and scuffs visible on the polished sides, though the overall case edges remain reasonably defined. There is no distinct bezel, as the domed acrylic crystal is set directly into the case. The signed Rado anchor crown shows light wear and minor scratches. The crystal exhibits light surface scratches visible under direct light. Movement The watch is powered by an automatic movement featuring a Rado-signed rotor. The plates and bridges appear clean with minimal signs of wear. Engravings reading RADO, 25 JEWELS, 2783, 2797, 208, and SWISS are present, with ETA caliber markings visible under the balance and on the mainplate edge. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher records a result of +6+10s/day. Strap The watch is fitted with a period correct stainless steel mesh bracelet. The mesh is in good condition with no major kinks visible, offering a highly period-appropriate visual character. It lacks visible Rado branding on the clasp. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist fit of 19cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial is excellently preserved, while the hands show notable aging and degradation to the luminous material. The stainless steel case displays honest age-related wear, including moderate scratches and scuffs on the polished flanks, alongside light surface scratches on the domed acrylic crystal and minor wear to the signed crown. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case size is 37mm (excluding the crown). Remarks The unusual 'Serbia' dial signature makes this piece highly sought-after for collectors of uncommon vintage Rado models. With its striking grey sunburst dial, robust ETA-based automatic movement, and period correct mesh bracelet, this watch offers a compelling combination of distinctive character and daily wearability. History The Rado Serbia features 1970s cushion and tonneau cases characterized by wide metal planes, reflecting the bold design language of the decade. The upper half of the dial displays Rado's signature rotating anchor logo. Certain variants of the Rado Serbia are powered by the 25-jewel ETA 2783 automatic caliber, providing a reliable mechanical foundation for these distinctive watches. The specific 'Serbia' dial signature represents an unusual variant in the vintage Rado lineup, adding an intriguing layer of regional history to the brand's diverse mid-century catalog.
