A classic and well-preserved example of Omega's space-age design era, this Seamaster Cosmic stands out through its exceptionally clean silver sunburst dial. Brand: Omega
Model: Seamaster Cosmic
Movement: manual winding
Dial: Silver sunburst with applied indices
Case Size: 35mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Steel
Production Year: 1960s
Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: -8-10s/day, performing remarkably well.
Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, presenting an exceptionally clean and well-preserved appearance. The applied indices feature contrasting black inserts that remain clean, while all printed text is crisp and fully intact. There is no visible moisture damage or significant spotting across the surface. The original stick hands, also detailed with black inserts, show noticeable age-related oxidation, with visible pitting on the metal surfaces that provides a natural contrast to the pristine dial beneath.
Case and Crystal
The steel tonneau case displays honest vintage wear while preserving its original finishes, including the brushed sunburst front and polished sides. Light scratches and handling marks consistent with age are present throughout the exterior. On the reverse, the caseback engraving is heavily faded, though the signature Omega seahorse logo remains faintly visible. The domed acrylic crystal exhibits some light surface scratches visible under direct light. The watch retains its original crown, which is signed with the Omega logo and shows moderate wear to the knurling.
Movement
The mechanical movement has been tested for current performance. Timegrapher results show -8-10s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed steel brick-link bracelet, complete with endlinks stamped '017'. The clasp is correctly signed with the Omega logo. The bracelet shows moderate scratches and signs of use consistent with normal wear, matching the character of the case. It accommodates a maximum wrist size of up to 18cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally well preserved and clean, while the original hands display noticeable oxidation and pitting. The steel case retains its brushed and polished finishes alongside age-appropriate light scratches and handling marks, with a faded but visible caseback engraving. The original brick-link bracelet shows moderate signs of use. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 35mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Seamaster Cosmic is defined by its pristine silver sunburst dial and classic 1960s tonneau case design. The presence of the original Omega-signed brick-link bracelet with '017' endlinks completes a highly original and appealing package for collectors of mid-century design.
History
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seamaster Cosmic represented Omega's embrace of forward-looking, space-age aesthetics. Moving away from traditional round cases, the Cosmic line heavily utilized tonneau and cushion shapes paired with fitted bracelet designs. Many models in the Cosmic family featured front-loading unibody cases, a design choice intended to improve structural integrity. Today, the Seamaster Cosmic remains a highly appreciated model line, offering distinctive vintage character and reliable mechanical performance from one of the most innovative periods in Omega's history.
