Dial and Hands
The watch features an attractive blue dial with a triple calendar layout, displaying the day, month, and a pointer date. The luminous hour markers have aged to a prominent dark yellow and brown patina. There is some visible degradation and spotting around the edges of the subdials and lume plots, presenting minor age-related character, while the printed text remains crisp. The original steel hands are fitted with luminous inserts that match the dial patina perfectly. The pointer date hand is distinguished by a red crescent tip, and minor oxidation is visible on the metal surfaces under magnification.
Case and Crystal
The 39mm stainless steel case displays the model's signature twisted lyre lugs. The brushed and polished surfaces show normal, honest wear, including a noticeable ding on the outer edge of the bottom right lug. The fixed steel bezel is fitted with a black tachymetre insert that shows minor nicks and wear along the outer edge, though the numerals remain fully legible. The crown is signed with the Omega logo and features well-defined fluting, flanked by chronograph pushers showing normal surface wear. The caseback engravings are clear and legible. A domed crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with no major scratches or cracks visible, showing only the slight edge distortion typical of its shape.
Movement
Inside is the automatic chronograph Omega caliber 1150, engraved with "OMEGA 1150" and "25 JEWELS TWENTY FIVE SWISS". The movement has a clean appearance with well-finished bridges and rotor, showing no visible corrosion or significant marks. The timegrapher recorded a rate of +1+3s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel bracelet and a signed Omega Speedmaster clasp. The endlinks are stamped '813'. The bracelet shows moderate surface scratches and scuffs consistent with honest use, and it accommodates a maximum wrist size of 19cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The movement was serviced and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The case shows honest wear with a specific ding on the bottom right lug and minor nicks on the bezel insert. The dial is highly attractive with strong tritium patina, though it displays minor age-related spotting around the subdials and lume plots. The original bracelet exhibits normal wear consistent with age and use.
Dimensions
The case measures 39mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Speedmaster Day-Date distinguishes itself with its striking blue dial and excellent tritium patina. The highly capable caliber 1150 offers a fantastic suite of complications, making this a compelling and practical addition to any collection.
History
The reference 375.0054 was introduced to the international collection in 1993. It expands on the classic Speedmaster design by incorporating the automatic mechanical Caliber 1150/1151, which features a sophisticated triple calendar with a pointer date, day and month windows, and a 24-hour hand. This 39mm variant offers a highly practical set of complications within a beloved and historically significant case profile.
