Dial and Hands
The watch features a strikingly crisp white dial that remains in exceptionally clean condition, showing no visible spots, stains, or moisture damage. The perimeter is detailed with a sharply printed black minute track, complemented by applied gold-tone circular hour markers. These markers house beautifully aged luminous dots that have developed a warm, creamy patina. The applied gold-tone Omega logo sits proudly below the twelve o'clock position, accompanied by crisp black serif typography for the brand name and the classic flowing script for the Seamaster designation. A clean date aperture with black numerals on a white background is positioned at three o'clock. The gold-tone pencil hands are excellently preserved, retaining their matching luminous material and providing excellent contrast against the bright dial.
Case and Crystal
The iconic Polaris case is crafted from brushed stainless steel, defined by its complex and highly distinctive gold inlay that flows through the bezel and case front. The case profile remains sharp, retaining its factory geometry while displaying honest signs of wear, including light surface scratches and handling marks consistent with careful vintage use. The original signed Omega crown is slightly recessed, integrating perfectly into the smooth case flank. The flat crystal is excellently preserved, offering a clear and unobstructed view of the dial without any distracting marks. The solid stainless steel caseback features a deep, well-defined Seamaster Hippocampus medallion and clearly displays the engraved serial number on its outer edge.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the Omega caliber 255.461 quartz movement. A visual inspection of the movement reveals a clean and well-maintained electronic caliber, clearly stamped with the Omega hallmark, the caliber number 255461, and indications for six jewels and Swiss V8 construction. The inner caseback is correctly engraved with the Omega factory markings and the reference numbers 396.1022 and 396.1222, confirming the authenticity of the components.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original integrated stainless steel Omega bracelet, which flows seamlessly from the case design. The bracelet features a brushed finish and secures with a signed folding clasp that prominently displays a gold-tone Omega logo inlay. The interior of the clasp is correctly stamped with the reference code 1455/448. The bracelet exhibits standard desk-diving marks and superficial scratches indicative of normal wear over the decades, while remaining structurally sound.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition with a pristine dial and honest case wear. The dial is a major highlight of this piece, remaining remarkably clean and free of the imperfections often found in watches of this era. The stainless steel case and integrated bracelet show normal, age-appropriate surface scratches and handling marks. The unique gold inlay remains fully intact and visually striking, and the caseback engravings are deep and crisp.
