Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, featuring a bright finish that interacts beautifully with the light. Applied indices with black inserts are fully intact and highly legible, complemented by crisp printed text throughout. Lume plots remain present at the outer edges of the indices. The gold-tone baton hands, also featuring black inserts, display visible oxidation and minor surface debris on their metal surfaces, along with aged luminous material that aligns with the production year.
Case and Crystal
The 35 mm gold-plated case displays honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches, handling marks, and a softening of the lug edges consistent with decades of use. The stainless steel caseback remains in good condition and features clear engravings on the exterior, while the interior markings confirm the 20-micron gold plating. A signed gold-tone Omega crown shows minor wear to its knurling. The domed acrylic crystal exhibits minor surface scratches visible under certain lighting angles, but remains free of major cracks or deep chips.
Movement
Inside beats the Omega Caliber 565 automatic movement, featuring 24 jewels and a quickset date function. The copper-colored plating is bright and well-preserved, showing no obvious signs of heavy corrosion or water damage. The rotor displays minor surface marks but maintains an overall clean appearance, with clear engravings confirming the caliber, jewel count, and serial number. Recording +10+15s/day on the timegrapher. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period correct gold-tone multi-link bracelet that complements the 1970s styling. The bracelet shows moderate surface wear and scratches throughout its links and features an unsigned clasp. It will accommodate a maximum wrist size of 18,5 cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch presents an exceptionally clean dial alongside honest aging on the hands and case. The gold-plated surfaces show moderate scratches and softened lug edges, while the hands exhibit visible oxidation and surface debris. The domed acrylic crystal bears minor scratches, and the period correct bracelet displays normal surface wear. Supported by the strong timegrapher results, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Genève offers a beautifully preserved dial and a highly capable Caliber 565 movement. The clear caseback engravings and period correct gold-tone bracelet complete a highly wearable and authentic 1970s package.
History
The Genève line was introduced by Omega as a tribute to the brand's precision manufacturing origins in the Swiss canton of Geneva. By the 1970s, the collection represented a vast array of elegant, everyday timepieces that brought Omega's renowned automatic movements to a wider audience. The Caliber 565 found inside this example is widely respected by collectors for its robust architecture and convenient quickset date mechanism, remaining a reliable performer decades after its initial release.
