Dial and Hands
The watch features a beautiful champagne sunburst dial in very clean condition, presenting an exceptionally well-preserved surface with a warm, even finish. Applied gold-tone indices feature contrasting black inserts that perfectly complement the crisp, intact printed text. Small lume plots remain present at the outer edge of the indices. The original gold-tone baton hands, also detailed with black inserts, show light age-appropriate patina, including minor surface oxidation and light scratches visible under magnification. Lume remains present within the hands.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm gold-plated case, fitted with a stainless steel caseback, exhibits honest wear consistent with age while retaining good overall shape. The case flanks and lugs display moderate scratches and handling marks, along with some wear to the gold plating on the sharp edges of the lugs. The smooth, integrated gold-plated bezel shows light scratches consistent with the rest of the case. A gold-tone crown, signed with the Omega logo, displays some wear to its knurling and plating. The stainless steel caseback exterior bears numerous light scratches and tool marks. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, showing light surface scratches visible in reflected light.
Movement
Inside beats the Omega manual winding caliber 613, featuring 17 jewels and adjusted to two positions. The movement presents beautifully, with its signature copper-colored plating appearing bright and clean. The screw heads remain in good condition, and there are no obvious signs of corrosion or damage. Engravings on the caliber are clear and crisp. Timegrapher testing indicates a rate of +8+11s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a high-quality black leather strap featuring an alligator grain pattern and contrasting beige stitching. The strap appears to be in near-new condition, beautifully complementing the gold tones of the case and dial.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally well-preserved and clean, serving as a major highlight of the watch. The hands display light, age-appropriate oxidation and minor scratches. The gold-plated case retains its classic geometry but shows moderate scratching, handling marks, and plating wear on the sharp lug edges, while the caseback exhibits tool marks and surface wear. The domed acrylic crystal has light scratches. The movement is remarkably clean and running very strongly, supported by excellent timegrapher results.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Omega Genève offers an ideal balance of mid-century elegance and mechanical reliability. The exceptionally clean champagne sunburst dial is a true highlight, while the robust caliber 613 movement ensures dependable daily wear. It is a highly attractive dress watch with classic late-1960s proportions.
History
The Genève collection was originally introduced by Omega in the 1950s to designate their highest-tier watches, produced at their Geneva workshops to exacting standards. By the late 1960s, the Genève line had evolved into a versatile and expansive collection of elegant, everyday timepieces. These watches utilized the same robust and precise movements found in the Seamaster and Constellation ranges but were presented in more understated, classic cases. The manual-winding caliber 613 is highly respected among collectors for its durability and precision, representing a wonderful era of mechanical watchmaking.
